The Senior Scientist is a laboratory-based, integral member of the Neuroscience TRC with a focus on research projects and clinical stage asset support for a broad range of neurodegenerative indications. The successful applicant will leverage their experience in neuroscience/neuroimmunology and in vitro/ex vivo expertise, working collaboratively with other team members across disciplines to pharmacologically characterize target engagement and pharmacodynamics in CNS-relevant models such as ex vivo tissues, iPSCs/coculture systems and organoids. This position offers great potential for continued growth with exposure to all aspects of disease modelling and drug development and as such, in vivo experience would be considered advantageous. The Senior Scientist will also be in a position to work on project teams across functions and sites and contribute to regulatory submissions.         

Major Responsibilities:

Implementation and validation of assay systems in relevant cell types to screen and characterize the pharmacological responses to modulation with small and large molecules Development of assays in iPSC/cocultures/organoids with functional readouts that are relevant to the primary neurodegeneration indication and reflective of human geneticsIdentification and assessment of potential new Neuroscience-focused targetsGenerate, record and report raw data and interpret to refine the next stepsEnsure the proper documentation of all data in electronic notebooksAnalysis and presentation of data (eg, Excel and GraphPad Prism), as appropriate and including statistical analysisPresentation of data updates at project team and departmental meetingsAbility to participate in and oversee outsourced projects/collaborationsCreation and interpretation of scientific documents including study protocols and study reports suitable for regulatory submissionOther responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Bachelor’s Degree7+ years of academic and / or industry experience in Neuroscience/Neuroimmunology

Or

Master’s Degree  5+ years of academic and / or industry experience in Neuroscience/Neuroimmunology

Or

Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in in Neuroscience/Neuroimmunology2+ years of academic and / or industry experience

Skilled in generating high quality, reproducible dataSupervisory experience is not necessary but may be considered advantageousDemonstrated history of applying in vitro/ex vivo laboratory skills to drive progress towards the clinic in research projectsExperience with human samples (eg, blood) is considered advantageousData interpretation and application to the design of follow-on studiesSkilled in using standard software as well as specialist equipment, graphing and statistical analysis softwareCapable of working within a fast-paced team environment with contribution to multiple projects at any given timeAbility to work independently but collaboratively within a solid team environmentGood organizational, record keeping, plus oral and written communication skillsMotivated and detail-oriented with a strong interest in driving productivity in clinically-directed researchPositively contribute to a work environment that fosters professionalism, mutual respect, teamwork, output and collaboration

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $129,000 - $177,100 plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

 

The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed.

 

Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
