The position
As a Senior Scientist in Mammalian Expression Engineering, you will play a crucial role in advancing our early project portfolio. Our work is facilitated by multidisciplinary project teams, wherein you will offer your scientific expertise in designing proteins for successful mammalian expression.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Expressing proteins for early proof-of-concept activities, many of which are challenging to express and require modifications and optimizations to be successful.
• Designing and expressing the proteins necessary for developing therapeutic products.
• In project teams, collaborating with other scientists on designing, analyzing, evaluating and developing recombinant therapeutic proteins.
• Designing and expressing potential recombinant therapeutic lead candidate proteins and generating cell lines for the subsequent production of selected lead candidates.
• Facilitating the transfer of these lead candidates for further development within CMC.
Innovation and scientific development are key parts of your role. Working alongside talented colleagues, you will share ideas and inspiration, demonstrate good stakeholder management and cross-collaboration, and be flexible and adaptable in an often-changing research environment.
Qualifications
You hold a PhD in biotechnology, molecular biology, mammalian cell biology, or a related field with 3-5 years of experience in protein design and expression, focusing on mammalian protein expression. Alternatively, you have a relevant Master’s degree combined with 6-10 years of research experience in the field as described above.
To thrive and succeed in the role, you have:
• Solid experience with recombinant protein design and a thorough understanding of mammalian protein expression.
• In-depth insight into mammalian cell cultivation.
• Experience working in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry is beneficial.
• Experience with working in high throughput with liquid handlers and automation, including programming, will be considered an advantage.
• A strong drive to optimize and further develop ongoing processes.
As a person, you are driven by using your skills in protein design and expression to bring potential medicine to patients. You apply your creativity to find solutions to the scientific challenges you encounter, and you share knowledge and experience freely with other scientists, lab technicians, and researchers to further our common cause. You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Being proactive and a dedicated team player are some of the key attributes we are seeking in potential candidates.
