Working as part of a cross-functional team you lead the RDQ activities required to complete new product development and maintain portfolios and/or productivity projects keeping in mind the goal to deliver the desired consumer experience.

Working as part of a cross-functional team you lead the Research & Development (R&D) activities required to complete new snack foods product development and maintain portfolios and/or productivity projects keeping in mind the goal to deliver the desired consumer experience.

How you will contribute

You will work independently to plan, lead and coordinate technical projects in line with R&D marketing and manufacturing requirements. You will effectively communicate status and risks and plan, lead and coordinate pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In addition, you will plan, lead and coordinate development activities (e.g. product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation. etc.). To provide direction for product development, you will use digital simulation models to obtain, understand and interpret consumer insights and commercial information. In this role, you will create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications and be responsible for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions made from analysis and interpretation of results.

R&D leader influencing cross-functional teams with experience in ingredients, nutrition, product formulations and technical knowledge in the snack food industry.

Proactively identifying complex technical or business problems and creating and implementing solutions.

Technical curiosity and out of the box thinking coupled with food technical knowledge to evaluate breakthrough technologies, novel ingredients and emerging science translating insight into business opportunities.

Handling multiple priorities.

Effectively influencing senior level and cross-functional stakeholders verbally and in writing, including writing technical report conclusions.

Coaching and mentoring others.

More about this role 

This Senior Scientist II, NA Ventures, R&D – Tate’s will be the Ventures Tate’s Product Development leader who will be responsible for developing and executing the product innovation 3 year strategic plan and future pipeline development to deliver Vision 2030. 

This role reports to the NA Ventures R&D Director Lead.

Qualifications:

B.S. or M.S. in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent 

5 or more years of experience in a Product Development or technical Research & Development role 

Consumer focused defining consumer desired experiences collaboratively with marketing and developing the strategic innovation pipeline. Being a constant champion for the consumer.

Ability to lead projects in development and commercialization of new products with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Formula/product development expertise in Biscuit is preferred but not required.

Understanding equipment design and manufacturing processes to support product and process specifications.

Strong project management & collaboration working cross functionally with agility partnering with internal and external manufacturers executing with excellence and technical rigor.

Strong problems skills and strategic agility.

Can stand alone, handle complexity, influence and present effectively to senior stakeholders and Senior Leadership Team

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization 

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $92,800 to $127,600; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. The salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
