We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our Ophthalmology group. You will be involved in creating novel and innovative animal models to study eye diseases as well as testing therapeutics.
As a Senior Scientist, a typical day might include:
Designing and driving experiments based on protocols provided by literature, seminars, and other scientists
Performing experiments including tissue culture and cell-based assays
Conducting tissue collection and processing, including histology, immunohistochemistry (IHC), imaging, ELISA, and Western blot.
Performing ocular procedures and examinations in rodents
Troubleshooting experiments and reporting the results to senior management
Optimizing protocols or writing new, alternative protocols
Thinking creatively about new ideas on how to design, execute, and analyze experiments
Effectively operates a range of laboratory instrumentation

Have both a creative and critical approach to scientific problem solving
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
You have strong attention to detail and time management skills
In order to be considered for this role, you must have at least a Ph.D. and 0-5+ years or a BS/MS and 8+ years of relevant experience. Must have extensive experience working in-vivo with mice; experience with ocular procedures/examinations is preferred. Experience with maintaining cell culture, cell-based assays, IHC, and other in-vitro techniques is required. A good knowledge of any and all scientific literature pertaining to ophthalmology is necessary.
