This position will perform a variety of laboratory procedures in Downstream Process Development. The position will use comprehensive knowledge of applicable principles, concepts, and practices and/or techniques to lead complex projects within a department, group, or team. This position will apply technical and functional knowledge to design experiments and projects that contribute to overall direction of downstream development.

This is a full-time on-site salaried position, Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

The Role:  

Develop and execute laboratory work plans/schedules independently, using customer milestones/and division/site performance standards and metricsDevelop and review statement of work and ensure project stays within scopeAuthor and may approve technical documents such as protocols, test methods, test reports, certificates of analysis, and operating proceduresTrain, coach, or mentor others on technical, personal development or business issuesParticipate in client meetings offering technical support and leading the projectResearch and develop existing and new technologies/process improvementsAct as the technical lead for client development projects, communicates project status internally and externally, and effectively provides technical explanation/rationalizationCritically analyze complex data; interpret and integrate experimental results with project objectivesExecute purification experiments including automated chromatography (AKTA platform), filtration, clarification, column packing, and tangential flow filtration independentlyKnowledge of protein purification and analysis with an in depth understanding of all modes of chromatographyOther duties as assigned

The Candidate:  

Must have Doctorate Degree in a STEM discipline and 2-4 years related experience ORMaster's degree in a STEM discipline and 5-10 years related experience ORBachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 8-15 years related experienceMust have knowledge of process scale chromatography and filtration (viral, chromatography, tangential flow, normal flow)Must have experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting chromatography workstations and process skids preferably in an industrial settingMust have experience writing standard operating procedures, batch records, and reportsPrior experience mentoring junior staff regarding laboratory procedures and scientific projects is required
