**Schedule:** _Full Time, Days_
**Shift** : _Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm_

**The role you’ll contribute:**
The Senior Scientist is responsible for leading the development and conduct of translational research at the TRI and participating in Industry/NIH/Pharmaceutical research that supports the TRI scientific research plan. Responsible for developing assigned Core program, has annual revenue accountability and provides guidance to other support staff in the performance of protocol-specific tasks. The Senior Scientist ensures that all research performed under their direction is in compliance with all Florida Hospital, TRI, local, state, and federal laws, policies and procedures. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

_• Manages and annually reviews performance of Core staff_
_• Participates in scientific presentations and publications in his/her area of expertise_
_• Participates in research grant application preparation_
_• Participates in Research Protocol planning and IRB submissions_
_• Fosters and supports external academic and research collaborations including data management_
_• Annual revenue accountability_
_• Other duties and responsibilities as determined by the scientific director_
_For Imaging_
_• Designs and implements magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MR/MRS) experiments/sequences using a clinical 3T MRI/MRS instrument_
_• Maintains and services Imaging Core equipment and vendor relations_
_• Selects, maintains and optimizes MR coils specific to each research application_
_• Ensures research volunteer safety including - but not limited to - calculation of and monitoring of specific absorption rates (SAR’s) for research imaging and spectroscopy and patient/research volunteer screening_
_For Energy Expenditure_
_• Develops exercise and energy expenditure Core_
_• Leads research in the develop of novel biomarkers related to exercise resistance and diabetes_
**The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed** **:**
+ **Minimum qualifications** :
• PhD in Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, exercise physiology, chemistry, biology, or related field
• At least 5 years of research experience working in area of expertise
• Proficiency in research and the regulatory environment as evidenced by published research and peer-reviewed work.
For Imaging
o At least one year of experience in imaging research utilizing high-field magnets
For Energy Expenditure
o Experience working with Calorimeters (Hood and Whole-Room)
o Experience leading exercise and energy expenditure studies as primary investigator
Knowledge of all regulatory requirements that pertain to clinical/medical research
For Imaging
o Knowledge of the development and operation of MRI/MRS equipment and MRS/MRI analysis
+ **Preferred qualifications:**
+ NIH and/or Pharmaceutical research in the areas of expertise
