The Technology Solutions Department is actively seeking a Senior Security Engineer. This position reports to the Information Security Officer. The position serves as a lead information security engineer and is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting all aspects of Information Security Technologies, specifically virus protection, account admin, technical controls that support physical security, web filter, and risk assessment tools. The position oversees installation and configuration of devices and machines for security and functionality. Examples of Work Primary responsibilities shall include the following: + Serves as lead information security engineer for new project installments. + Provides guidance and work leadership to less experienced/non-senior information security team members and may have supervisory responsibility; may serve as a technical team or task lead. + Depending upon assignment, duties include configuration of enterprise level security appliances (i.e., Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, and Security Incident and Event Management systems). Configuration tasks require knowledge of creating complex rule sets through command line interface and/or graphical user interface. + Participates in long-range enterprise technical planning by providing consultative direction, recommendations, and authoritative engineering judgment in the decision-making process for future efforts. + Partners closely with Enterprise Architects to assist with the design of infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements. + Oversees hardware and software installations, upgrades and maintenance of network infrastructure and components as directed; primarily in the area of virus protection, account admin, technical controls that support physical security, web filter, and risk assessment tools. + Provides Network tier 2/3 support to ITD groups and customers by serving as escalation point of contact for all technologies supported by the Enterprise Information Security team. + Recognizes trends in incoming issue reports (tickets) to access appropriate triage level for resolution suggestions to develop. + Designs, reviews, documents, maintain and troubleshoot all aspects of the Information Security infrastructure and recommend necessary improvements. + Researches, analyzes, tests, and compares new and existing technologies and equipment as required. + Maintains proactive awareness of new technologies and trends within the field of information security and evaluate the appropriateness of this technology for COJ. + Updates documentation of existing, new, and proposed information security architecture and configurations. + Updates and maintains Information Security Enterprise Infrastructure designs. + Uses network protocol analyzer efficiently (i.e., Observer, Wire Shark, etc.) to troubleshoot and gather network statistics. + Uses information security monitoring tools efficiently and effectively (i.e., Web Filtering, End Point Virus Protection, badge, and access systems). + Identifies pro-active measures to improve information security quality and performance. Clearly document and report findings to senior leadership. + Monitors and documents information security operational statistics (usage, performance, security/access, errors, availability, etc.) + Performs job related duties as required. Open Requirements/Supplemental Information Position Requirements: + Seven (7) years of education and/or experience in information technology. + At least three (3) years of experience in information security technologies and design. + Possession of the CISSP will count towards two years of experience. + Must be proficient in MS Visio, Excel, and Word. Preferred + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. + Preferred Certifications: CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: + A valid driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class. + Must qualify for prior to appointment, obtain, and maintain during employment in this class the City of Jacksonville certification as a public driver. OTHER REQUIREMENTS : + Depending upon assignment, may be required to obtain specialized certifications. + Must pass the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background screening performed by the Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office prior to appointment. + Within 30 days of appointment date to classification, acquire and maintain the appropriate level of Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) certification which corresponds to the job responsibilities. The level will be determined by current CJIS guidelines and may change periodically.
