Senior Site Planner - Mining (FIFO 2:1)

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Site Project Planner with experience in the construction or mining sectors to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining, and controlling project schedules to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget. You will be responsible for coordinating all planning and scheduling activities, providing detailed progress reports, and supporting project managers in optimizing resources and workflows.

 

Your Responsibilities

Schedule Development & Management: Create, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) for all construction and mining projects. Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, resources, and budgets. Ensure alignment with the overall project objectives. Progress Monitoring: Monitor project progress against the schedule, identifying delays and implementing corrective actions as necessary. Resource Allocation: Ensure efficient use of resources by aligning schedules with workforce availability, equipment, and material resources. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and problem-solving. Risk Management: Identify potential schedule risks and suggest mitigation strategies. Reporting: Provide accurate and timely reporting of schedule status, including forecasts, delays, and critical path analysis to senior management and stakeholders. Quality Assurance: Review and validate schedules to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards. Continuous Improvement: Assist in the continuous development of planning processes and tools to improve efficiency across the organization.

 

Requirements

Experience: Minimum 4-5 years of experience in planning and scheduling within the construction or mining industry. Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of scheduling software, including Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools. Project Management Knowledge: Familiarity with project management principles, including critical path analysis, resource leveling, and earned value management. Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and generate reports for stakeholders. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely. Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Education: A degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is preferred.
