Swift is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer/DevOps Engineer to join our team. This is a HYBRID role that requires at least two days per week on-site in Manassas, VA.
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Swift, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems. You will work closely with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and continuous improvement of our infrastructure. As a senior member of the team, you will also be responsible for mentoring and training junior staff.
In this role you will:
Maintain and enhance the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems.Provide Level 2 (L2) support for problem investigations.Collaborate with development teams to support problem investigations and implement solutions.Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.Resolve moderately sophisticated issues through investigation and solution development for effective mitigation and prevention of future recurrence by means of process, procedure, or tools improvements.Develop and maintain automation scripts, with a preference for Python.Ensure the availability and reliability of databases.Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support as needed.Document system configurations, processes, and procedures.Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and clients.Mentor and train junior staff, sharing knowledge and standard processes.Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) or similar role.Proficiency in Linux, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).Strong database knowledge and experience with database management and troubleshooting, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and query optimization.Proficiency in scripting languages, with Python as the preferred language.Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).Solid understanding of operations and the ability to support on-call as required.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Experience working in a collaborative team environment.Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to issue resolution.Proven experience in mentoring and training junior staff.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).Hands-on experience with database operations, including data migration, replication, and clustering.Education: BS Degree

The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position in Virginia is $90,580.00 MINIMUM to $168,220.00 MAXIMUM USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
