Senior Software Engineer, Architecture
Senior Software Engineer This role will be onsite in Sunnyvale, CA HQ three days a week. 

In this role, you will build highly scalable and available cloud-based services. You will also contribute to the platform developments focused on data ingestion, processing and the associated metrics and analytics.   

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own some of the microservices and associated components. You will have complete ownership of the service and will be responsible for all aspects of development for the service, from conceptualizing, designing, implementing, testing, to deploying and monitoring it. 

To thrive in this role, you will need to have proficiency with Java, spring boot and/or Go / Golang. You should also have some experience with one of the public cloud, Azure, or AWS, or GCP, knowledge of Kubernetes and distributed systems and building API-based microservices. Networking experience, especially network security, is an added advantage.

Key responsibilities:  You will be developing containerized (micro) services and the associated components for a distributed multi-tenant system that process data and real time events and systems/asset/network telemetry from multiple public clouds to provide real time insights, visibility, and security recommendations to customers so they can identify and minimize risk in the cloud.   You will mentor junior engineers, new-grads, and interns to help them grow as engineers and become productive members of the team.   You will primarily write code in Java (using spring boot framework) and work with data pipelines using Kafka/SQL or other types of interfaces.   We leverage Kubernetes for service infrastructure platform.  We welcome people with backgrounds in other languages and technology stacks along with a desire to learn.   Own critical features and subsystems and own the entire software development lifecycle, from clarifying requirements to ensuring their successful deployment and usage by customers.   Own operational aspects of the system, being on the front lines and experiencing first-hand the challenges of operating such a system, will make you understand how to write very usable and supportable software, providing delightful experience to our customers.    Own quality in all aspects of the development process, as we do early developer testing and functional/integration as well as performance testing to ensure we build robust and resilient products.   Partner with Product Management to review and refine requirements that exceed our customers’ expectations.   Develop deep understanding of the fundamental problems our customers need solved through interaction with stakeholders and peers.   Experience:  Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent degree. Master’s degree a plus  5+ years building distributed & scalable software and systems  Passion for software development, willing to constantly learn, keeping up with technological trends, and working in a team setting  AWS / Azure / GCP cloud experience:  Extensively used one of these platforms at the API/programming level  Experience with networking and security controls is a plus  Our platform is K8s based so experience delivering a containerized serviced is desired  Language requirements  Experience in Java and spring boot or Golang   REST API client experience  CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible are nice to have  General TCP/IP networking knowledge  Unix/Linux programming environment experience  About Illumio:

Pay Range:

$161,000 USD - $185,000 USD

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, or applicable laws.
