What is the opportunity?
RBC Automotive Finance provides a full spectrum of financial services to Canadian Automotive, RV, and Marine dealers. All RBC loans are originated at or through dealership channels including Retail and Dealer Finance Commercial.
The Senior Software Engineer, Auto Finance position is accountable for the development of the Automotive Finance Retail credit strategy model refinements; as well as the enhancement and maintenance of a strong data infrastructure (including data-driven methodologies and tools), to facilitate the automation of data processes and data democratization for the Automotive Finance team.
What will you do?
Work closely with stakeholders to design and build features for the Retail Prime and Non-Prime credit strategy functionality.
Refactor and re-engineer existing codebase to reduce latency and enhance efficiency.
Provide thought leadership and execution of items such as technology stack optimization, parallelization, etc.
Expand material inputs to dynamic configuration with associated controls/automation.
Facilitate the testing for release management, as applicable.
Create, manage and facilitate the automation of ETL processes, business intelligence reports and dashboards, using data engineering and BI best practices.
Act as the Subject Matter Expert to provide data governance and security expertise ensuring linkage across all sources and all reporting produced to optimize accuracy, efficiencies and manage redundancies.
Lead effort to assess any new data management systems and processes. Provide input on business requirements for data management needs relating to infrastructure, systems & technology development.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
Experience as a software engineer, software developer, technical system analyst, or a related function.
High proficiency with programming languages such as Python, SAS, and SQL, for a minimum of 3 years.
Experience in extracting, analyzing and creating insights from large, complex datasets (preferably with a financial institution) to support credit strategy development.
Strong data engineering and data management experience working with diverse data sources and formats.
Collaborate with a diverse team of credit analysts, developers, project managers, system administrators and business leadership to ensure business intent is delivered to market efficiently and without incident.
Post-secondary degree (or equivalent) in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
Nice to have:
Inquisitive thinker with strong business acumen, and the ability to apply superior data knowledge & data discovery skills into building effective analysis and insights.
Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to use data to influence decision-making.
Experience with the Enterprise Data Lake and cloud technologies.
Experience with Spark.
