We are looking for a strong backend Senior Software Engineer to join us in shaping the future of risk tokenization and building new capabilities within the Payment organization.

Meet our team:

In Risk Tokenization, we focus on powering open-loop commerce system by mitigating payment risks. Our team manages risk lifecycle of PayPal issued debit cards and tokens, provisioning of digital wallets and protecting transactions from potential frauds for top initiatives such as NFC, Apple Pay, Venmo, PayPal Debit Cards and recent bundle offerings to customer. With open loop commerce, we are able to power in-store commerce and online commerce where PayPal is not the accepted mode of Payment. Our TPV is $24B/year and growing year over year.



Our solutions need to scale across millions of such transactions, working with petabyte-plus data, integrating with various other APIs in real-time, and yet providing high availability and configurable capabilities to the business.

What do you need to bring:

You know how to write highly scalable and distributed Java services.

Strong Java/J2EE skills required

5+ years experience building software with object oriented or functional programming languages.

Demonstrable programming abilities in Java and other languages like Python, XML, HTML.

Understanding of algorithmic techniques, design patterns and best practices.

Knowledge/experience with web services (REST / SOAP) and ORM (Hibernate)

Knowledge/experience with Spring.

Curiosity about how things work and the behaviour of finding the answers. Flexible and adapting the changing circumstances, tenacious.

Knowledge/experience with Unix. Knowledge/experience with relational databases, NoSQL databases. Knowledge/experience with applying Big O Notation to algorithms.

Knowledge/experience with GitHub. Knowledge/experience with Service Oriented Architectures.
