Meet Our Team:

The risk branded transaction team owns the risk platform that performs risk evaluation and decisioning for all branded payments in PayPal, including checkout, Billing agreements, P2P, Payout, and more. This team drives the platform initiatives like latency improvement and technical stack upgrades, it’s also responsible for new feature development for individual products. We are part of the overall risk platform.

This role is a key technical contributor responsible for developing and maintaining the company's payment risk platform and related services. This role involves working on cutting-edge technologies to create secure, scalable, and reliable solutions that power risk management of core payments.

You will help build highly efficient and highly resilient risk platform for PayPal to manage the fraud risk of core payment products. You will also help deliver risk features for enterprise critical initiatives to present most frictionless checkout and payment experience

Your Day-to-Day:

Build highly efficient and highly resilient risk platform for PayPal to manage the fraud risk of core payment productsDeliver risk features for enterprise critical initiatives to present most frictionless checkout and payment experienceCreate rich data pipeline and offline dataset for business to develop strategic guidanceDesign, develop and implement engineering solutions (Applications, Microservices, tools, systems, infrastructures)Code highly available, testable, scalable, monitor-able components using primarily Java.Work with RISK infrastructure and platform teams to design, develop and support Risk APIs to detect and prevent fraudMonitor real-time ATB (availability to business) of Risk services that directly impacts decision capability of transactions through Pay Pal.Analyze users' needs and provide quick and efficient solutions for real-time issuesBuild strong competencies in data structures and algorithms.Collaborate with products team to gather requirements and create software prototypes where necessary.Monitor production environments, code rollouts and setup post release processes and checklists.Work with architects and DTLs to validate designs, load analysis and application performance tuning, setting up event streams to publish and consume risk messages.Ensure overall quality of features using test driven development, defensive coding and automation test script implementation.

What You Need to Bring:

A successful candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of experience coding in a full stack or back-end environment Proficient experience in Java programming with Maven, Git is requiredExperience with a few mainstream frameworks for web applications, extensive experience building RESTful backend services is requiredSolid end 2 end system design skills for highly efficient and highly available distributed systems is requiredExperience with Hadoop or Big Data or Big Query is preferredExperience with SQL & NoSQL DBs, modern database technologies, Caches, Message Queues is requiredGood understanding of web services and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) standards like REST, OAuth, and JSON is requiredCandidates should have strong object-oriented programming (OOP) skills, with the ability to analyze requirements and translate them into scalable software designs.Hands-on experience with REST APIs and adeptness in designing and constructing web services/microservices in a commercial environment.Experience with AI/ML is nice to haveA Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field is preferred but not required

$84500 to $204600
