Senior Software Engineer

We're looking for a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to join the Checkout Wallets and Payment team. We are responsible for developing and maintaining the critical checkout services essential to Affirm's business success. In this role, you will write high-quality, easily understandable code and provide technical leadership within the team. You will contribute to technical discussions, lead experiments and work with the product team to provide the best possible experience for our users.

The team partners closely with other engineering teams from Europe and US to deliver honest and transparent financial products that help consumers make their purchasing decisions.


What You’ll Do

Collaborate with other Software Engineers to design, maintain, and evolve existing architecture that grows the business and unlocks new product initiatives. 

Actively being an owner of checkout systems and defining their long-term health.

Drive detailed project definition, design, technical specification, cross-functional alignment, task breakdown, and delivery. 

Proactively raise any issues or improvement opportunities in our product, technology, or business processes and contribute ideas to deliver them.

Provide technical leadership to ensure the delivery of reliable, scalable, and performant technical solutions.

Build teams by mentoring other engineers, informing and influencing hiring decisions, and building an inclusive team environment.

 

What We Look For

5+ years of experience designing, building, launching, and maintaining systems.

Strong technical background in backend software development with technologies like Python, Java or Kotlin.

A strong understanding of distributed systems and how architectural decisions affect performance and maintainability.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be proficient in asynchronous mode of communication–written tech specs, wiki, project plans, etc.

Passion for working with multi-functional teams including Product, Design, Analytics and Business teams.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Base Pay Grade - N

Equity Grade - 4

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills. 

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents). In addition, the employees may be eligible for equity rewards offered by Affirm Holdings, Inc. (parent company).

POL base pay range per year: 301,000 zł  - 401,000 zł
