The Sr. Software Engineer will support operational planning and studies with primary activity centered around the usage of the Extended Air Defense Simulation.  EADSIM incorporates use-driven capabilities with a proven, rapid-response capability to develop and support the model to meet the evolving user needs. The broad gamut of battlefield technologies and interactions of those technologies makes the tool a rich environment for evaluation of new technologies.

This activity will be performed at the customer facility.

The primary skill-set for this work is the ability to translate systems and their supporting technologies into models allowing evaluation of those systems in the full context of the battlefield as presented in EADSIM.  These skills will be used to support the customer with tailoring products for analysis, understanding results, and correcting model behavior.

Running EADSIM scenariosGenerating EADSIM reportsInvestigating questions about EADSIM's behavior, which means running EADSIM in the debugger if needed to answer the question of why the model is producing a given result.Addressing needed changes in the code for anomalies to extend the model with new features.

Other Essential Duties

Compiling the baseline code from HuntsvilleMerging the baseline code with local changes and compiling the result.Addressing anomaliesCoding local requests that may not have relevance to the baseline.Working through issues with libraries and operating systems.Maintaining local programs that provide pre-processing and post-processing for EADSIM.Address issues with EADSIM interacting with other programs.Providing computer science services for anything else that arises. 

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of RHELExperience with C/C++ programming languages.
 

Strongly preferred:
Experience with development and use of simulations; EADSIM experience is highly preferred.
 

Education and Experience:

Requires a B.S. degree in a recognized field of engineering, plus a minimum of five (5) years diversified engineering experience. Ten (10) plus years of relevant experience is preferred, but not expected.

Other Qualifications

The ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance. An Active Government Top Secret Security Clearance is preferred.
