Stryker is looking for a seasoned software engineer with a strong technical background to join the Edge Server development team. The Edge platform is used by leading hospitals for clinical communications and workflow management. Doctors, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals use the platform daily to manage patients, stay abreast of their status, carry out medical orders, respond to alerts, and other activities. Edge is a core component of the go forward strategy at Stryker and is poised for significant growth in the coming years.
In this position, you will be working with our world-class engineering team, including experts in application engineering, System Architects, and Mobile engineering and work on new feature development, bug fixes and performance tuning the code that forms the foundation of the Edge Platform.

You will own a complete solution across its entire life cycle.You will be accountable for the quality, usability & performance of the solutions.You will implement monitoring and logging solutions to track system performance and troubleshoot issues.You will lead in design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization.You will collaborate with internal teams (QA, System Architecture) and external teams like Support, Escalations, and DevOps to anticipate and mitigate potential deployment issues and troubleshoot issues encountered by customers.You will be a part of level 3 production support rotation.What You NeedBachelor’s degree Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.2+ years of experience developing software applications.Hands on development in Java and Java based frameworks.What We Would Love That You Have (Preferred Qualifications)(You do not need to have all of these):Mastery of OOP design patterns and best practices in Java and supporting frameworks like Spring/Sprint Boot/Hibernate in an Agile environment to deliver enterprise-grade global platform products.Knowledge of SQL fundamentals a strong plusKnowledge of performance analysis and tuning using JProfiler (or similar tools).Experience with cloud-based applications and solutions a strong plus. (AWS Preferred).Strong hold on Architecture Designing, Design Patterns & UMLGood exposure in multi-tiered application development and databases.Ability to independently diagnose and resolve code and system related issues with minimum direction.Familiarity with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code.Dedicated in the face of ambiguous requirements; unafraid to explore new ideas and technologies.Demonstrated ability to use data to improve processes and evaluate design options.Excellent analytical, organizational, planning and communication skills.Ability to work within a geographically dispersed dynamic team to achieve desired results.Familiarity with Agile software development methodologiesOther things to consider:Up to 15% domestic travel as needed.Be local to San Diego or San Jose metropolitan area or willing to relocate upon hire.$85,500 - $182,100 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location.
