The Red Hat Container Tools team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our global presence to develop container technologies to support internal and external customers. A candidate should expect to work in an agile environment to write new features, review pull requests, fix bugs, update docs, and work in multiple technical areas like podman, buildah, skopeo and/or other container related technologies.
Candidates should be comfortable with working within cross-functional and distributed teams to execute development plans and to work in a fast paced environment. The candidate is expected to define the architecture of new projects or features, and develop them from inception through to adoption. This is a great opportunity to work on emerging technologies and possibly create new ones.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Contribute to container technologies like podman, buildah, skopeo and others.
Participate on a scrum team and complete tasks assigned within sprint boundaries
Give demos to your peers on work you’ve completed each sprint
Work with upstream communities like Fedora and many internal stakeholders
Ensure test plans for the code you create exist and that documentation is correct
Design and implement automated test plans
Analyze defects, design solutions, and engineer fixes
Quickly respond to security threats
Ability to present your work at conferences
Writing blogs on your work
Required skills
Experience of using Linux
Experience with at least one of the following: Golang, Rust, python
Familiarity with Linux containers
Ability to learn new programming languages
Good written and verbal English communication skills
Experience with how to use git
Experience in making an effective code reviews
Experience with Continuous Integration / Delivery
Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment
The following are considered a plus:
Experience with Linux system programming
Knowledge of AI and experience with LLMs is a plus
Experience of how Open Source and Free Software communities work
Ability to present to customers and stakeholders
RHCSA certification or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Containers
