About this Position

Technology Engineering is one of the major divisions within Global Technologies at T Rowe Price. We are the Developer Services Group within Technology Engineering and we focus on building horizontal, shareable tools and services that help application teams accelerate their SDLC while meeting the corporate compliance, quality, and security requirements. Developer Services Group is a high performing team that tackles difficult problems and implement lasting changes for the firm.  We are solving challenging problems so application teams can focus on building solutions for our businesses. 

 
Role Summary 

In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will design, develop, modify, adapt and implement short- and long-term solutions to information technology needs through new and existing applications, systems, databases and applications infrastructure. You will review and interpret system requirements and business processes as well as code, test, debug and implement software solutions. You will also: 

Lead projects or work streams Be accountable for your work and sometimes others, provide process and standards advice in your area of specialization Work independently with minimum guidance Serve as a resource for colleagues with less experience 

ResponsibilitiesPerforming as a domain expert in one or more parts of the software lifecycle (e.g., coding, testing, deployment). Leads significant pieces of development within the development lifecycle Contributing to the development of standard methodologies within your group Leading code reviews and actively participates in providing feedback on others’ designs/code Being accountable for technical debt in your own software Supporting the infrastructure and runtime of various vendor products that are integrate to our flagship SDLC platform Leading a small project team, as required Taking control of complex problems and step through them in a rational way Making tactical vs. strategic trade-offs Being flexible in your thinking; able to evolve a solution when additional information or ideas are presented Mentoring junior members of the team Identifying when junior engineers need help and providing it in a positive way that promotes confidence. Actively helping team members/make suggestions to improve practices. 

Business Knowledge Able to work directly with other application development teams and infrastructure engineering teams Decisions show a focus on current and future business priorities, together with fiscal responsibility Can articulate business needs and translate them into technology solutions 

QualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience AND 3+ years of relevant software engineering expertise 

  

Preferred:

The ideal candidate will be proficient in some of these languages and frameworks: Java, Python, C++, Node.js, Golang, Dropwizard, Spring Boot, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, React, Vue. Strong knowledge of application security Strong knowledge and experience in service oriented architecture running in the cloud Passionate about automation and elimination of toils Stays up to date with new technologies Programs proficiently in several languages and is comfortable switching between them Shows dedication to quality by implementing suitable software using unit/integration and acceptance testing at the time of feature development Develops data models or schemas from scratch and knows of key concepts such as ACID, Normalization, and Transactions Debugs large components with limited assistance and assists other engineers Designs and develops practical APIs and abstractions. Knowledge of Docker / Kubernetes would be a plus Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and AWS deployment would be a plus 

Work Flexibility 

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to three days per week from home.

Base salary ranges:

$144,000.00 - $247,000.00 for the location of: California, New York
$127,000.00 - $217,500.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C
$115,500.00 - $197,000.00 for the location of: Colorado, Maryland, Washington and all other US locations

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role.  Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package.  Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
