SRE Automation Engineer

Position Summary:

Chubb is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our growing Distributed IT Operations team.  The Automation Engineer will be working closely with the SRE teams and develop automations to address operational issues. The Automation Engineer would require a minimum 6 years of industry experience with atleast 3 years development experience in Python/NodeJS and AngularJS. 

Using robust SDLC process the automation Engineer will develop tools to automate common operational tasks. The automation Engineer will be part of the automation squad in the Global SRE chapter and will design/develop automations from scratch. They are responsible for both frontend and backend development focusing on tools to improve  service reliability and stability.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

 

Develop automation tools using Python/NodeJs and Angular focused on developing self service portal for the SRE team Work closely with the SRE team to understand operational issues and participate in solutioning and creating automation backlogs Follow SDCL principles to develop automation workflows by collaborating with other developers. Develop frontend and backend components of the application and ensure seamless integration between user interface and the underlying backend logic. Participate in design, testing and implementation of software applications focused on reliability and stability of the Infrastructure Align development work with Agile framework and deliver scalable services. Provide training and mentorship to junior team members. Train team members in best practices and act as subject matter expert and escalation contact for infrastructure related issues. Automate operational, monitoring, and integrity verification processes (e.g., runbooks) for hardware, server, and system resources and processes. Create and maintain documentation for the automations developed, including installation, configuration, and appropriate troubleshooting steps. Improve existing processes through automation solutions to recurring problems and enhancements to existing solutions or documentation.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

 

Programming skills in fronend technologies like Angular/html/css and backend technologies like python/nodeJSFamiliar with SDLC processes and best practicesCuriosity and commitment to learn SRE skills over a period of 6 to 12 monthsExperience working in agile frameworkBasic understanding of SRE concepts is an added advantageExcellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to effectively communicate across all levels is required.Self-driven with the ability to manage workload without direct supervision.Ability to collaborate with different technology towers to achieve common goals.Ability to manage multiple stands of work simultaneously.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
