Job Summary:As a member of our team, you will strive to accomplish the following goals:
Own the development and maintenance of two or more functional areas of core frameworks, execution environments, build systems and tooling used across multiple products, using a structured programming language like Java, Python, or JavaScript.Contribute to the design & implementation of services and frameworks with input from other senior and lead engineers by checking-in valuable, clean code daily that adds new features and capabilitiesBecome a member of the Quality Platform Engineering team, driving increasing quality through innovation, curiosity and thoughtful debate.Contribute to the successful implementation of solutions for complex technical problems with DE&ET engineering teams and driving the deployment of Disney backend and guest-facing products at Disney Quality.Providing strategic input on future initiatives with stakeholders and other engineersContributing to and collecting data to inform Key Performance Indicators used for defining project statuses and effectiveness Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:Independently break large stories until into smaller tasks based on stakeholder requirementsDeveloping and supporting test automation frameworks, execution environments, build systems, and reporting toolsDesigns solutions to and develop architecture for a new project feature, with occasional guidance from more senior engineersMaintaining documentation meant for end user consumption as well as project contributor documentationSupport and mentor developers and automation engineers through code reviews, knowledge-sharing, and technical leadershipInvestigating and resolving any framework, tool or execution of environmental issues affecting our servicesContribute to and maintain Java 11 libraries and services that are used by client, backend, and automation testing teamsContribute to and maintain core services running Java 11 in an AWS EKS environmentRequired Education, Experience/Skills/Training:Bachelor’s degree or the foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a closely related field5+ years of progressive experience in a software development (SDE) occupation, including automated testing of front end or backend services using a structured programming language.3+ years of experienceProficient in object-oriented design and expertise with one of the following programming languages: Node/JavaScript, Java, PythonExperience with test automation and unit testing frameworksExcellent problem-solving skills.Excellent collaboration skills and ability to use standard software development lifecycle (SDLC) tools such as Jira and Confluence, and version control systems.Experience leading one to two teams in technical solutioningStrong verbal and written communication skills. Highly motivated, self-starting individualPreferred QualificationsExperience in Java and Springboot based applications developmentExperience in mobile and/or web application development and testingExperience with developing applications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS)Understanding of async programming models (events, callbacks, promises, async/await) and threading/concurrencyExperience working with Agile methodologiesWorking knowledge of web accessibility fundamentalsExperience with Kafka, Amazon SQS, and KinesisExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, and continuous integration/delivery systemsExperience with Infrastructure-as-code languages (such as Terraform)Experience developing advanced mocking mechanisms (e.g., rule-based proxies and dummy-services)The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $145,400 to $195,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
