On the Microsoft Defender for Office team (MDO), we are responsible for delivering a cloud-based email and message filtering service that protects customers from advanced threats (malware, phish, fraud and spam) in Microsoft’s email and Teams collaboration workloads. MDO provides investigation, threat hunting and remediation capabilities that allow security teams to efficiently identify, prioritize, investigate, and respond to threats. Our team is seeking a **Senior Software Engineer** to work in our Foundations organization. You will be responsible for helping build the next iteration of services that will support MDO into the future. This include optimizing our existing architecture for major value savings, embracing new technologies and architectures to enhance MDO's product agility and raising the security & quality bar for the product as a whole. As a Senior Software Engineer you will be comfortable working in an agile environment, collaborating with peer engineers in MDO, working closely with Product Management and with our partners in Substrate to come up with durable solutions that fulfill customer needs. Drive end-to-end project delivery, ensuring timely and high-quality results. + Work on cloud-native technologies and distributed systems to build a robust, resilient, and secure platform. + Continuously improve our codebase by leveraging new technologies and best practices in security, data governance, and cloud infrastructure. + Other + Embody our Culture and Values **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + 2+ years experience working with high scale distributed systems. **Other Requirements:** + Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: + Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Additional of Preferred Qualifications:** + Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + Experience with Machine Learning or AI or Big Data. Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
