As a Senior Software Engineer you will design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software to meet business and customer needs. Depending on the need, you could work on development initiatives that include: Developing features and capabilities for end users, either external customers or internal employees. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Internal Developer Platform Engineer & Developer Advocate to design, build, and maintain internal developer platforms that enhance developer experience and productivity. This role requires deep expertise in platform engineering, DevOps practices, and cloud-native technologies, along with a strong ability to advocate for developers by improving tooling, workflows, and automation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of platform engineering, DevOps, and developer advocacy, enabling teams to build and deploy software efficiently while fostering a strong engineering culture. Must be able to build web applications or have API experience. Major Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain HCA’s internal developer platforms to streamline software development, deployment, and operations • Build and enhance self-service tools that improve developer experience, including CI/CD workflows, infrastructure provisioning, and observability solutions. • Advocate for best practices in developer productivity, automation, and cloud-native development through documentation, training, and internal community engagement. • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes and other cloud-native environments, utilizing YAML and automation frameworks. • Act as a developer advocate, gathering feedback and driving adoption of internal platforms and DevOps best practices. • Promote a collaborative team environment and work closely with colleagues to achieve business objectives. • Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g. business stakeholders, product owners, project managers, and end users) to understand functional and non-functional requirements. • Investigate and propose solutions to development and design problems. • Participate in scope of work estimation and forecasting. • Adhere to architecture, design, implementation, and security standards and best practices. • Participate in code reviews or use collaborative programming techniques to promote high quality business outcomes. • Conduct analysis to determine integration needs, and design and plan integrations. • Implement unit and integration tests and conduct functional and performance testing where appropriate. • Prepare technical documentation, including software design evaluation plans, test results, and technical manuals. • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.” • Training and mentoring of peers and other staff • Performs other duties as assigned Education & Experience Required: • Bachelor's degree Computer Science or related field required • 5+ years of experience a Software development or engineering role required or Master's degree Computer Science or related field required with 3+ years of experience in a Software development or engineering roles Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviors: • Growth mindset and a willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and frameworks. • Strong proficiency in one or more coding languages. (JavaScript/Typescript, C#, Python) • Experience with front end JavaScript frameworks (React/Vue.JS) • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps automation, and infrastructure as code (IaC). • Strong understanding of object-oriented programing, familiarity with functional programing is a plus. • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native technologies. • Experience with GCP or Azure cloud providers • Solid understanding of developer experience (DevEx) challenges and how to improve engineering efficiency. • Familiarity with GitOps, monitoring, observability, and security best practices. • Understanding of agile methodology and software development lifecycles. • Experience with version control (Git) and open-source practices. • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing. • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. • Ability to work both independently and on a team. • Strong ability to understand context for code, the codebase, and its relation to business objectives. • Ability to sit for long periods of time. + Bachelors Degree must be obtained within 15 days of employment start date HCA Healthcare has been recognized as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies® by the Ethisphere Institute more than ten times.
