Senior Software Engineer - Grocery Ranking (Backend)
**About the Role** Grocery Ranking & Recommendations is one of the very core areas which can impact overall GR consumer experience and GR business in a very significant way. Showing the relevant items to the user will help in driving high engagement, retention and higher conversion. Some of the ranking initiatives that the team is working on is building the low latency serving infrastructure to support multi channel retrieval systems and be able to enable Deep Learning Models for Item ranking and carousel ranking within a reasonable latency. This work stream has a very high visibility at the VP level given the of the significant role it plays. **What You'll Do** - Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable software solutions - Identify opportunities and lead of the entire development lifecycle end-to-end, from architecture design and coding to testing and deployment - Mentor and guide other engineers, providing technical leadership and encouraging a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment **Basic Qualifications** - Relevant degree (B.Sc, M.Sc, Ph.D) in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience - Experience coding with C++, Java, Python, or Go - Enjoy building high quality software that is relied upon by millions of people around the world - Comfortable working with ambiguity in constantly evolving environment - Experience working in large scale distributed systems **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience working with ML ranking and recommendation systems - Experience with large-scale eCommerce systems For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
