U.S. Bank is seeking the position of Senior Software Engineer (multiple positions) in Atlanta, Georgia.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Senior Software Engineer will architect and design scalable, reliable, and high-performance data solutions for Enterprise Unified Data and AI platform for the data engineering group. Essential responsibilities include: creating detailed architectural flows; developing strategies for data integration and storage using Azure cloud services; implementing data governance frameworks by collaborating with consumer teams and business lines and optimizing the architecture for cost-efficiency and enhanced performance; design, develop, and deploy cloud-based data solutions, including building and maintaining enterprise data pipelines using inhouse ETL platform for Batch and Streaming using Open-source tech stack like Spark, Flink, Scala, Airflow and Python, and building connectors including various sources (Kafka, Cassandra, Presto) and targets (Kafka, Cassandra, Presto) for ETL operations, ensuring data security and compliance; conduct proof-of-concept and implement generative AI solutions to optimize performance and cost-efficiency for thousands of daily ETL pipelines, and extending these solutions to other consumer data engineering teams; lead cross-functional project teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication; utilize Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, to achieve project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations; mentor other team members by providing guidance with industry standards and best practices for professional development; conduct comprehensive code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to standards, and best practices; develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to improve software reliability and efficiency; create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including software designs, API documentation, and user manuals; monitor application performance to identify potential bottlenecks; troubleshoot and debug complex software issues, providing essential support for production systems; collaborate with product management to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications; communicate technical concepts and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders; stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends on Cloud & AI; conduct proof-of-concept projects to evaluate new tools and technologies for potential adoption; provide ongoing training and support of a 24/7 production support team on a rotational basis. Position may allow working from home within commuting distance of worksite location.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or Information Technology plus 5 years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer.
Required Skills/Experience:
Must possess 5 years of experience with all of the following: designing and developing big data architecture for analytical models; dynamic and extendable services for Kafka streaming on real-time models; performance tuning of Spark configurations developing Spark pipeline framework for batch and streaming jobs; designing and developing scalable and extendable firmware (f/w); utilities development for boiler plate code (read/write and from/to files; Cassandra; Hive; TigerGraph; building data systems to extract, transform and load (ETL) data from various external and internal endpoints; handling large datasets (TBs) of data; developing Spark code in Scala using Spark SQL & Data Frames; and developing data pipelines on the Cloud. Position may allow working from home within commuting distance of worksite location. Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location.
