This candidate will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the core infrastructure of our real-time streaming services, streaming analytics, and commercial vehicle integrations. This candidate will work alongside a talented team of full stack software engineers, product managers, data engineers and data scientists to develop scalable, low-latency systems that handle massive volumes of data in real time. Responsibilities Architect and Develop Real-Time Systems: Design and implement highly scalable and performant systems for processing and delivering real-time data streams. Optimize for Low Latency: Ensure that the systems you build meet strict low-latency requirements, providing real-time analytics and insights to users with minimal delay. Work with Cutting-Edge Technologies: Use modern tools, frameworks, and technologies like Kafka, Flink, Kinesis, gRPC, WebSockets and other real-time data processing tools. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner closely with full stack engineers, product managers, data engineers, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Ensure High Availability: Build resilient systems with automated failover, monitoring, and self-healing capabilities to maintain uptime and reliability. Maintain Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while following best practices for testing, CI/CD, and deployment. Troubleshoot and Optimize: Identify performance bottlenecks, debug complex issues, and optimize real-time data flows to ensure smooth operation at scale. Stay Current with Trends: Continuously evaluate emerging technologies such as Redpanda or Databricks. Monitor techniques in the streaming and data processing domains to innovate and improve the product. Qualifications Office Location Requirement: Ability to work from R | V Tech’s Palo Alto Office at least three days per week is required for this role. Work From Home: Ability to work from home two days a week is supported as well. On-Call: Participation in a rotating on-call schedule, including occasional weekends, late nights, and holidays, to resolve critical production issues is also required. Education: At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, is required for this role. Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience in software engineering is required for this role. Expertise in streaming platforms as Apache Kafka, Redpanda, Apache Flink, Amazon Kinesis, Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS). Proficiency in at least one modern programming language: Java, Scala, Go, Python, Rust etc.) Good knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms is required. Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure, and cloud-native technologies. Skills: Solid understanding of distributed systems, fault-tolerant architectures, and scalability concerns. Experience with low-latency systems and high-performance applications. Strong knowledge of data serialization formats Apache Avro, Protobuf, JavaScript Object Notation (JSON). Preferred: Education: Masters or PhD is strongly preferred, but not required. Skills: Experience with stream processing for real-time analytics. Familiarity with microservices architecture and designing APIs for real-time data consumption.
