About the Job
The Red Hat Support team is looking for an API Senior Software Maintenance Engineer to join us in the US. As a member of the support team, you will be providing technical support for customers' APIs on the Red Hat 3scale API Management platform. You will work closely with junior and senior engineers and developers to provide highly technical solutions in support of requests, debugging and improving code for Red Hat 3scale API Management. Additionally, you will write patches, provide updates and contribute ideas through participation in an open and collaborative team environment.
What You'll Do
Own the resolution of customer issues, from initial contact to complete customer satisfaction
Provide high-level, detailed technical assistance to ensure that our customers get the most out of our Red Hat J3scale API Management offerings
Use efficient problem-solving techniques, debugging source code and resolving complex, critical and sensitive support issues
Learn new technologies and provide blogs/whitepapers and knowledge base articles to push technical knowledge out to our customers and the community
Collaborate with peers across the Red Hat organization to triage and resolve technical issues
Engage and collaborate with open source developers around the world
Offer developer-to-developer assistance for the Red Hat 3scale API Management
Work alongside in-house developers in writing new code, fixing and improving existing code and contributing to open source software communities
Develop patches and feature requests to provide upstream to the community and downstream to customers
Work on other open source projects to help customers integrate
What You'll Bring
Must have:
3+ years of experience as a support engineer or a similar role
Knowledgeable in common Internet technologies and protocols (HTTP, SSL, OAuth, REST, JSON, XML, etc), understanding the pros and cons of each
Experience in application coding, use of APIs/web services and associated tools
Strong organizational ability to balance numerous reactive, interrupt-driven tasks with parallel multi-week projects
Problem solving skills' ability to assess a problem and determine an effective course of action to design solutions using Red Hat 3scale API Management
Confident communication and presentation skills
Desired:
Deploying, troubleshooting and running applications on Amazon AWS infrastructure
Understanding of SaaS multi-tenant solutions as compared to on-premise software
Practical experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript
Familiarity with NGINX or other reverse proxies
The salary range for this position is $101,300.00 - $162,050.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
