Red Hat is looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Quality Engineering team, focusing on Linux-based edge computing solutions. In this role, you will be integral in validating that our systems meet industry standards, with a specific focus on Margo and VPAC/E4S compliance. You will work closely with software engineering, contributing to upstream patch development and ensuring that our Linux patches are thoroughly tested, stable, and aligned with industry requirements. Your expertise will play a vital role in shaping the future of Linux on Edge for enterprise environments.
The position is allocated to our critical global engineering offices - Brno, Czech Republic or Waterford Office, Ireland
What you will do
Collaborate with engineering teams to understand and verify requirements associated with Margo and VPAC/E4S industry standards.Actively participate in standards meetings as a quality assurance representative, bringing back insights to refine testing strategies and ensuring alignment with evolving specifications.Develop, document, and execute detailed test plans for Linux patches, ensuring they meet functional, performance, and stability criteria for edge computing.Work closely with engineering to create automated and manual testing strategies that validate key functionalities, address potential edge cases, and ensure overall system robustness.Partner with the development team to test backported Linux patches on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and other enterprise distributions, ensuring reliability and stability.Maintain awareness of RHEL updates and releases, continuously refining test coverage to support the latest enterprise requirements.Identify, document, and track bugs and performance issues, collaborating closely with engineers to analyze and resolve these issues.Leverage debugging tools and root-cause analysis to drive issue resolution, ensuring that patches are fully validated before deployment.Contribute to the development of QA methodologies and best practices that improve testing effectiveness, coverage, and efficiency.Lead knowledge-sharing sessions to advance QA skills and practices within the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.What you will bring
Intensive experience in quality assurance, with a focus on Linux-based systems and/or edge computing solutions.Programing skills in C languageProven experience with Linux QA processes, tools, and methodologies, especially in enterprise environments like RHELPrevious involvement in compliance testing for industry standards or participation in standards bodies is highly desirableStrong knowledge of Linux operating systems, testing frameworks, and automation toolsFamiliarity with upstream patch testing, kernel patch validation, and backport testing methodologiesExperience with testing, automation, scripting (Python, Bash, or similar), and debugging tools for root-cause analysisSolid understanding of edge computing architectures, networking, and related performance considerations is a big plusAbout Red Hat
