JOB SUMMARY
This position is the technical leader responsible for the strategic planning and guidance for technology solutions which defend and protect our client's computer systems, information, and networks from intentional or unintentional access, modification, or destruction. This position will serve as a Cybersecurity subject matter expert informing Enterprise Architecture, guiding Engineering teams in the application of practical controls, and the operational readiness of related technologies. A successful Cybersecurity Architect will have a multidisciplinary background beyond cybersecurity, with subject matter expertise in fields such as client and server systems, networking, and application development. This position will also be responsible for ensuring technologies and processes are following regulatory requirements, such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and SOX. This position is responsible for the mentorship of other IT staff as well as assisting IT Managers in coordinating workloads. This position reports to the Solutions Architecture Manager.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB Responsible for defining enterprise-wide architectures, planning for, and directing large-scale integration efforts, and setting network and unified communications technology standards and guidelines. Provide technical leadership for IT staff. Develop and maintain high-level design and plans for the overall logical and technical architecture. Gain organization commitment for all high-level infrastructure plans and roadmaps, initiate and steward projects to evaluate, implement and deprecate technologies according to those plans.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB Solutions Architecture – 50% of total job Partner with business and technology subject-matter experts to elicit and translate business requirements into technological solutions. Partner with other architects to provide scalable and adaptable architectural solutions. Design and provide enterprise grade architectural plans for systems, products, and projects. Develop and maintain policies, standards, reference architectures and guidelines to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across the company. Research and lead adoption of high value retail and technology industry trends & emerging technology. Serve as a technical expert in multiple technologies. Strategic Planning – 20% of total job Work with business leaders to create business cases that add positive value for the organization. Collaborate in the creation of the departmental budget by estimating future work annually. Research and document strategic plans to help move IT process and technology forward. Assist in the creation and implementation of the IT Strategic Plan annually. Product and Project Stewardship – 15% of total job Provide guidance in projects as the architectural steward. Create and/or assign reference architecture for engineering and development. Ensure solutions meet architecture guidelines. Responsible for documented deliverables. Provide technical expertise and advice as needed. Fulfill the role of Product owner when assigned Leadership – 10% of total job Mentor other technical resources in the company to help grow their technical skillsets. Find opportunities and work with managers to give to others to facilitate their growth. Service Management - 5% of total job Assist in resolution of incident or problems in the IT Dept. Review, approve and give guidance on changes generated from change management weekly. Review Incident trends and establish problem records to prevent incidents from happening and minimize the impact of incidents that cannot be prevented. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Required education: Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field or 5 years of professional experience in an architectural capacity. Desired education: Certification in VMware, Cisco Data Center, Cisco Route/Switch. Information Systems Security Professional/Manager (CISSP/CISSM), or equivalent. ITIL Foundation Certification and Project management. Required experience: 10 years of proven experience with local and wide-area networks, system design, virtualization technologies, storage area networking, cyber security technologies, strategic planning, budgeting, business requirements gathering and information security practices. 5 years of leading design and architecture of technology solutions. Must possess a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft, VMware, Palo Alto, Cisco, Citrix, and NetApp solutions. Thorough understanding of infrastructure services and concepts including compute, storage, network, and security across multiple knowledge domains. Applied process knowledge including Project Management, ITSM, and ITIL. Experience troubleshooting complex problems. Desired experience: ???????Experience with IBM AS/400 / IBM Power Systems, multiple database platforms, data protection software, SharePoint and Microsoft Project as well as AIX Unix and RHEL. Experience with Cisco Routing and Switching, Palo Alto, Riverbed, Infoblox, and multiple virtualization or container-based technologies. Required skills: ???????The ability to translate business needs into architecture requirements and evaluate the financial impact of alternatives (scenario planning) to research and quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies or trends and understand and communicate their potential impacts. Develop technical strategies and solutions to meet IT and business strategies, and a demonstrated ability to influence adoption and change. Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical groups, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong project management and organization skills. Ability to establish, implement, and enforce appropriate IT standards and guidelines to meet business requirements. Excellent diagnostic/troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with ability to solve problems independently, quickly, and completely and to communicate them clearly to stakeholders. Must be able to take the initiative and to work without direct supervision. Must be able to work in a team environment. Desired skills: Ability to provide technical mentorship to junior personnel during projects and in day-to-day operations.
