Senior SOX Auditor

Lowe’s Internal Audit team is looking for a Senior Internal Auditor to play a key role in evaluating and strengthening our internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). This role is critical in ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and driving operational efficiency. You will contribute to the full SOX audit cycle—from scoping and planning to testing and reporting—helping safeguard the financial integrity of one of the leading home improvement retailers.

Beyond core audit activities, you’ll have opportunities to lead internal quality reviews, coordinate training efforts, and participate in strategic initiatives that enhance the Internal Audit function.

What You Will DoLead SOX Audit EngagementsConduct walkthroughs and document key processes to assess control design and identify risks of material misstatement.Assist in developing and executing audit test plans to evaluate the operational effectiveness of key SOX controls.Perform testing across financial reporting, IT general controls, and business processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.Identify, document, and communicate control deficiencies and process improvement opportunities.Effectively manage multiple audit assignments, adhering to Lowe’s Internal Audit Methodology and SOX compliance standards.

Deliver Clear and Impactful CommunicationDocument findings, risks, and recommendations with clarity and accuracy for stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.Proactively communicate audit exceptions and areas of concern to both the audit team and business partners.Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders through ongoing communication, helping teams enhance their control environment.Prioritize tasks efficiently to meet audit deadlines while balancing competing demands.

Collaborate and Drive ResultsWork closely with audit teams and business stakeholders to ensure a seamless audit experience.Support a team-oriented environment, sharing insights and solutions that drive continuous improvement.Coordinate with internal teams and leadership to ensure timely completion of project milestones.

Commit to Continuous Learning and GrowthStay current with evolving audit methodologies, tools, and industry trends.Leverage internal and external resources to deepen expertise in SOX compliance, internal controls, and risk management.Provide coaching and mentorship to junior auditors, supporting their development in audit fundamentals, techniques, and best practices.

Travel Requirement: 10-20%

Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, IT, or related field2+ years of audit (internal / external) experience, SOX compliance, or relevant business experienceFamiliarity with SOX, COSO framework, and auditing standards (e.g., PCAOB)
Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in business, Accounting, IT, or related fieldRetail business experienceCPA, CIA, or CISA (or willingness to obtain certification)
