Job Description: The Sr Specialist, Systems Engineer position is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communications platforms. Essential Functions: + Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains + Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements + Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning + Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements + Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements + Perform requirement traceability + Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness + Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements + Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs + Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals + Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: + Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of related experience + OR Master’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of related experience + OR in lieu of a degree a minimum of 10 years of related experience + Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains + Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning + Be able to write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements + Understand requirement traceability + Be able to prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals + Ability to pass FAA Class III Flight Physical + Active Secret DoD Security Clearance or higher Preferred Additional Skills: + Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware + Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support + Security+ Professional Certification + RF distribution systems including RF down-converting, up-converting, transceivers, non-blocking switching, and electrically phase matched distribution architectures + Agile experience + Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications + Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose + Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process + Experience writing subsystem specifications based on system level requirements + Experience conducting verification testing + Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills + Experience working with subcontractors and US Government customers + Experience developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans + Willingness to travel L3Harris Technologies is proud to be an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
