FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Join the #1 station in the market to deliver dynamic sports coverage that captivates the San Francisco Bay Area’s passionate fan base. This multifaceted role demands a candidate with a comprehensive skill set that encompasses planning, editing, producing, and executing sports stories, specialty shows, and live reports for multiple platforms.

Stay at the frontline of all things sports in the Bay Area and beyond, taking charge of planning and producing compelling sports stories, shows, and interviews, ensuring content is informative and resonates with our diverse audience.Spearhead special sports coverage, including credentialing, licensing footage, and booking and logistics for live locations in the field.Actively pitch and produce innovative stories that reflect the multifaceted nature of the Bay Area for TV, digital, and print platforms.Set the priorities for the station’s sports coverage that includes unique off-field stories, athlete interviews, and impactful sports moments of interest beyond the local pro teams.Collaborate with the Sports Reporter, news managers, producers, and various talent to produce and execute sports segments and programs while demonstrating an exceptional capacity for researching, reporting, and writing broadcast and print copy that adheres to station standards, ensuring precision and clarity.Demonstrate hands-on video production expertise, editing proficiency, and live show producing from the booth to create seamless and captivating content that stands out on air and online.Design and produce graphics that enhance sports storytelling and viewer understanding, utilizing current industry-standard graphic tools.Develop and nurture a local network of sports contacts, securing scoops and exclusive interviews.Engage with the community, building a network of sources that empowers our station to be the first to report on sports news that matter to our viewers.Independently create unique and compelling content for a variety of digital platforms, including streaming channels, social media, Connected TV apps, and other digital media.Collaborate with key stakeholders in the local and regional sports world to build relationships with clubs and organizations that have not previously partnered with KTVU.

Qualifications:

At least 8 years of experience in sports journalism, writing, editing, planning, and producing, preferably within a top 10 market.A robust reel showcasing live show producing, specialty segment producing, a breadth of expert contacts and sources, as well as social media and streaming production expertise.Technical proficiency in video production, non-linear editing, and graphic creation for broadcast and digital platforms.Strong understanding of and interest in a wide variety of sports, with the capability to produce content on each knowledgeably and energetically.Excellent storytelling skills, with the ability to deliver complex sports information in an accessible and engaging way.Proficient and compelling writing style for multiple platforms including broadcast, print articles, newsletters, and social media.Fluency in various social media platforms’ trends, styles, and language to authentically engage with audiences on each platform.Demonstrated history of creatively telling sports stories without highlights, with an emphasis on people-focused storytelling and off-field angles.

Preferences:

Connection to the San Francisco Bay Area; applicants who grew up, were educated, or have reported in the region will have an advantaged understanding of local sports culture.A degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field with a focus on sports media is a bonus.Multimedia savviness, with a grasp of how to leverage social media platforms for sports coverage, multiscreen broadcasting, and audience engagement.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $110,000.00-118,400.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
