Job Description

Zekelman Industries seeks a Senior Staff Accountant.  Reporting to the Finance Manager - US, the Sr. Staff Accountant will assist Finance Manager in all routine accounting activities.  This role based in Blytheville, AR. This role will lead Blytheville plant on a day-to-day basis as well as monitor inventory valuation for the entire division.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Complete monthly financial close process, including analytics, commentary and reporting for assigned companies, data entry of all journal entries for all companiesTrack and review steel receipts to monitor daily steel cost compared to consumption costCalculate annual cost standards for inventory valuation purposesUnderstand and monitor the buildup of product cost across the full spectrum of inventory from raw material to finished goods to ensure system calculations are accurate Prepare calculation and analysis for standard to actual inventory varianceManage scrap processing errors within SAPMonitor inventory reports regularly for items with MAP outside of expectations, looking for UoM or costing errorsPrepare any intercompany cross charges for all assigned companies, ensuring ledger is properly cleared in all currenciesCoordinate quarterly stockroom reserve for all assigned company operationsComplete assigned monthly account reconciliations.Complete Concur monthly journal entries and account reconciliations details for all assigned companiesPrepare and issue weekly spending reports to assigned company operationsComplete yield analysis as required for all assigned company operationsDevelop process and maintain records for monthly internal audit of cycle count process for stockrooms, ensuring no audit issues upon reviewPrepare quarterly forecast updates for assigned companiesCoordinate the annual budget process for assigned companies and assist with consolidations as requiredSupport the annual external audit as required with specific additional focus on inventory analysisPrepare quarterly financial disclosure roll-forwards for review and submission to corporateReview cost savings initiatives for financial benefitsAdhoc reporting as requiredMeet all required due dates with completeness and accuracy.Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

College/University graduate with 5+ years experience with general ledger accounting, closing, and manufacturing. Ideally working towards accounting designation.  Must have extensive advanced knowledge of Excel or similar spreadsheet use. Experience with SAP software would be a plus.  Must have excellent analytical skills and accounting knowledge. Ability to communicate with management at all levels in a professional manner and have good writing skills to summarize findings. Some travel is required – must be able to travel to Canada. Significant part of workday will be spent on a personal computer.Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this roleLead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy 

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull.Must be able to lift 60lbs.Manufacturing/ Industrial work environmentThe employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
