**Job Responsibilities:**
Provide administrative support to the programs in Applied Statistics (graduate and undergraduate) with duties including but not limited to:
+ Process program audits, course enrollments for SMS and non-SMS students, various registrar forms, prepare verification letters, support thesis and capstone processes, schedule student meetings
+ Manage the duties as related to the SMS Graduate Program
+ Act as liaison to Institute Offices such as International Student Services, Scholarship/Financial Aid, Student Financial Services
+ Maintain and verify student records and certifications
+ Document management in the areas of program course descriptions, program table 1’s, graduate bulletins, program requirements, student and program files, student databases, course outlines, plans of study, annual course schedules, thesis requirements
Provide administrative support to the Statistics Associate Head and SMS Statistics Faculty with duties including but not limited to:
+ Assist the Statistics Associate Head as requested
+ Assist with statistics course scheduling, coordinate and maintain inventory of textbook desk copies for statistics courses
+ Assist with core exams (creation and formatting)
+ Assist with room reservations
+ Monitor and order supplies, provide support for candidate recruitment search efforts in Statistics
+ Serve as contact person for all the academic units in RIT whose students are taking statistics courses
+ Attend program and faculty/staff meetings and take minutes
Communications:
+ Maintain/update information on the webpage for Applied Statistics programs
+ Create graphics and marketing communications regarding these programs
+ Update and monitor SMS bulletin boards in the Carey Bldg
+ Review and modify written advertising and orientation materials
Prospective Student Inquiries/Applicants: communicate on the school’s behalf with prospective students by fielding inquiries and directing as appropriate
Graduate Assistants: hire, train and manage the employment function for the school’s graduate assistant needs for SMS faculty
Other Support/Administrative Functions:
Events:
+ Coordinates and supports internal, external, and outreach events for Applied Statistics programs,
+ Assist with commencement, guest speaker visits and other workshops/events within the school, communicate on the school’s behalf with Statistics alumni and donors
Data and Predictive Analytics Center Support: assist the DPAC director with various activities of the center

**Required Qualifications:**
Education
Associate degree or 2-4 years administrative experience required; preferably in academic setting.
Skills and/or Experience
+ Demonstrated expertise in managing work in a complex, fast-moving office environment,
+ Professional, customer/student focused demeanor, and strong interpersonal communication skills,
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills and time management skills; ability to work within deadlines,
+ High-level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite,
+ Ability to quickly learn and utilize a variety of computer-based systems and programs,
+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Experience with and/or working knowledge of KRONOS, SIS, Oracle, Adobe Sign, PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, platforms preferred.

THE COLLEGE/ SCHOOL
The School of Mathematics and Statistics (SMS) is one of six academic units in RIT's College of Science, which also houses the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, the Integrated Sciences Academy, the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, the School of Physics and Astronomy, and the Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences. The SMS promotes research in mathematical and statistical sciences and is the home of 80 faculty members, four administrative staff members, three undergraduate programs (Applied Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, and Applied Statistics and Data Analytics), two MS programs (Applied and Computational Mathematics, and Applied Statistics) and a Ph.D. program in Mathematical Modeling. The SMS offers the required mathematics and statistics courses for students from all RIT programs.

**Job Summary:**
The RIT College of Science is looking for a dynamic team player who will provide administrative support to the Program of Statistics in the School of Mathematics and Statistics (SMS). This 35-hr per week position reports directly to the Head of the SMS. The Sr. Staff Assistant works closely with the other support staff of the school to ensure excellent customer service delivery to approximately 80 faculty and 15 adjunct faculty. The Sr. Staff Assistant will represent the school when called upon to interact with RIT community members, external constituents, while executing established institute policies and procedures within the scope of the position.
