Senior Staff Scientist, Applied Biology

Together, we accomplish great things In this role, you will have the opportunity to: + Play a leadership role in identifying needs not met with current product offerings, leading exploration and development of novel solutions to meet these needs. + Interact cross functionally with R&D, Engineering, Operations, Program Management, QC, QA, Engineering, Software, and other teams to communicate technical details and completion of projects and collaborations on time. + Act as a subject matter expert in the rapidly changing synthetic biology, CRISPR, and NGS landscape and collaborate on new product development and business strategies. + Actively participate in technical discussions regarding Synthetic Biology and leads development of solutions to novel problems (quickly and effectively), in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where previous methodology and data may be sparse or lacking to solve broad range of issues. + Present technical information and project progress clearly and concisely in regularly scheduled department meetings and external conferences. The essential requirements of the job include: + Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, or related field plus 7 years research/industrial or other relevant experience, + Experience leading a team of scientifically minded individuals and experience in managing projects + Experience with lab automation and automated liquid handling. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: + Advanced degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field preferred. + Molecular biology techniques including synthetic biology applications, gene synthesis, molecular cloning, enzymatic assays, PCR/qPCR, CRISPR genome editing and screening , and NGS. + Effective communication, both orally and in writing, to customers and colleagues with a wide range of skills and experience in different fields. + Analyzing large data sets and complex information generated using NGS, Mass spectrometry, and other analytical methods. #LI-LM1.
