Job Description
At Gilead, your role as a business analyst is not just instrumental; it's pivotal. You will be at the forefront of business analysis, empowered to bridge technology solutions with the scientific drug discovery process. This unique opportunity allows you to directly support our mission to address unmet medical needs and improve life. With your background in software development and understanding of scientific methods, you will creatively devise strategies to enhance efficiency and facilitate strategic goals. Your contributions will be significant, and your role will include an ongoing search for opportunities for improvement in our efficiency. As the lead BA, you will evaluate processes, analyze options, and propose solutions. These may span small- and large-molecule drug discovery and may be related to in-house solutions or those purchased from industry vendors.
Through collaboration, a Gilead Business Analyst ensures that solutions fully align with scientific objectives, fostering innovation and strategic achievement. As a BA at Gilead, you will develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the science and technology realms associated with drug discovery. You will create functional design specifications, testing plans, and creative technology solutions in this role. As software is developed or deployed via an evolutionary agile process, you will be part of the cycle and contribute to the project management, ensuring the software's desired impact on drug discovery.
Candidates are expected to have an insight into pharmaceutical research and technological trends, particularly in cloud computing, agile methodologies, data analytics, AI/ML, etc. This role demands exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.
As the lead business analyst, you will allocate and coordinate resources, ensuring project timelines and business goals are met efficiently. You will function as the lead business and participate in all evaluations for new or updated applications.
Post-implementation, you will conduct thorough reviews to assess effectiveness and monitor ongoing operations for optimization opportunities to evolving needs. You will coordinate and manage internal and external resources to support assigned projects, pivotal in supporting and modeling the culture within your team and the broader organization - a culture of high-performance, data-driven decision-making, value-driven prioritization, quality governance, and compliance.
Specific Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position will include (but are not limited to) the following:
Works within the Research department to support scientific Research.Works with research scientists to understand their workflow for drug discovery.Gathers requirements aligned with research goals and technology capabilities.Analyzes resource requirements, negotiates prioritization, and supports strategic initiatives.Manages the documentation of requirements and use cases.Provides timely and appropriate analysis to buy, build, or integrate software.Balances technology with the ability to impact Research in a timely way.Participates in architecture, security, and design reviews.Defines (some) solutions that enhance a body of mature C# software.Oversee and manage the creation of test scenarios.Supports acceptance by collaborating with users to meet user expectations.Coordinate project roll-out and deployment, implementation, communications, and training.Assesses the impact and effectiveness of solutions in support of drug discovery.Manages enhancements and defect analysis to improve digital solutions.Ensure all systems support established practices to maintain the integrity of research data.Proposes and deploys metrics for the value and effectiveness of software.Prepares user training and documentation.Provides support to end-users on day-to-day operation workflows.Works within the guidelines of Gilead Enterprise IT for servers and systemsThis role requires a solid foundation in biological sciences, an exceptional understanding of technology, and the ability to serve as an effective liaison across the functional areas of Research to facilitate the development of digital solutions that advance drug development efforts.Key Responsibilities

Knowledge, Experience & Skills
7+ years’ relevant experience with BS / BAor
9+ years’ relevant experience with MS / MA / MBAComputer Science, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline is preferred.Some experience in the laboratory or programming languages in a language such as C#.or
3+ years of relevant experience with a Ph.D. in structural biology co, computational chemistry, or computer scienceConsiderable experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical companyExperience supporting business analysis, planning, and budgeting.Demonstrated experience in project management.Experience with system integrations and an understanding of data security.Direct experience or strong familiarity with drug discovery technologies is desirable.Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to translate Research needs into creative solutions.A drive for practical and flexible solutions to problemsThe ability to provide solutions to complex problems with ingenuity and creativity.An ability to work within a team to manage a project for success.An ability to manage, develop, and improve processes and operations with software.An understanding of how to work within rigid time constraints.
