Senior Staff Writer (Strategic)
**Overview** Senior Staff Writer (Strategic): Bowhead is seeking a Senior Strategic Staff Writer for an upcoming effort located at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. The Senior Strategic Staff Writer will attend external events (e.g. think tanks, congressional hearings, symposium) and synopsize discussions for NAVSEA leadership to provide overall awareness of current discussions, trends and talking points. Synthesize complex information into talking points, white papers and briefs for consumption by NAVSEA leadership. Develop integrated planning calendars and engagement plans that align to the strategic objectives of programs and priorities. **Responsibilities** + Provides executive level writing and editorial support for all correspondence and tasks. The target audience for material consists of Members of Congress, Department of Defense (DOD), Chief of Naval Operations, and NAVSEA Leadership. Consults with staff to ensure information is presented accurately. + Provides authoritative guidance on editorial matters to personnel. + Maintains awareness of current government writing and reporting style and format requirements. Bowhead seeks to network with qualified individuals relative to a potential opportunity, which is contingent upon award and not currently funded. Incumbent employees are encouraged to respond. No solicitations or third-party applications will be accepted. **Qualifications** + Minimum of 10 years of experience in defense acquisition or other federal appropriation / authorization matters. + Bachelor’s of Arts/Science degree in English, Communications, or related field. + Experience providing direct support to senior leaders in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment + Experience in communication strategies and materials that support and promote engagement with internal and external stakeholders. + Experience to manage small- and largescale projects that contribute to a larger strategic communications plan. + Experience to manage competing priorities under strict deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. + Experience with NAVSEA, Congress, the Navy and Department of Defense. Target salary is $105,000/year to $150,000/year commensurate with experience. Physical Demands: + Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds + Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time + Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.
