Senior Strategy Consultant, Enterprise Sustainability

Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it. **The Opportunity** The Enterprise Sustainability team ensures that Caterpillar has clear and transparent sustainability strategy, progress, and performance data for investors, customers, dealers, employees, and the communities we serve. The Enterprise Sustainability Senior Strategy Consultant will be a key part of this high performing team focused on enabling our sustainability strategy. This pivotal role will harness critical thinking, data analysis, clear communication, teamwork, and competitive, trend, and regulatory insights to influence Caterpillar’s sustainability strategy and tactical positioning. **Key Responsibilities:** + Drive business results through objectives that align with Caterpillar’s sustainability strategy and enhance the Company’s reputation on environmental and sustainability issues + Innovate in product development, supply chain, and operations by researching and evaluating evolving ESG trends, best practices, and legislation with a global perspective + Identify opportunities to embed sustainability data and KPIs into the organization in a way that positively influences and supports business decision making + Prepare recommendations for senior leadership and partner with key stakeholders across the organization to implement recommendations + Track and analyze key competitive and peer company information (e.g., sustainability actions, emissions data, targets and progress) + Engage with external parties and scout for opportunities relevant to Caterpillar’s sustainability strategy + Own consolidated ESG regulatory roadmap, including understanding of the impact of key regulations, by working with legal, finance, product compliance & support, and other internal business partners + Assess opportunities related to sustainability and the energy transition by collaborating with other Divisions across Caterpillar, including Enterprise Strategy, Electrification + Energy Solutions, and others **What you Bring:** + Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of “big picture” thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization + Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgement + Influencing: knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization + Sustainability: Knowledge of sustainability strategy, emissions accounting, and reporting; ability to integrate sustainability into the overall business strategy of the organization to build a sustainable business model + Knowledge of the Organization: Knowledge of the organization’s vision, structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles, values and code of ethics; ability to understand the value of aligning capabilities with business goals to support optimal performance **Basic Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering or environmental science, or other area of study with clear and relevant experience in sustainability + Minimum 5 years of overall professional experience with a master’s degree, or 7 years without a master’s degree + Minimum 2+ years in management consulting, business strategy or corporate development related role **Preferred Qualifications:** + MBA or Master's degree + Familiarity with ESG voluntary and regulatory reporting frameworks and standards, including but not limited to GRI, SASB, GHG Protocol, TCFD, CDSB, EFRAG, ISSB + Strategic, creative, practical, and open-minded thinking with a keen business acumen focused on outcomes + Experience in energy, industrials, heavy equipment, automotive, or similar engineering- or manufacturing-based industries + Exceptional attention to detail with robust analytical and planning skills; capable of handling complex matters under deadline pressure + Excellent communication skills; adept at simplifying complex issues and providing clear analysis and risk areas and actionable recommendations + A team player who can independently initiate and drive projects with equal prowess in cross-functional collaboration and advocacy **Additional Information:** + This is a full-time position with a start date as soon as reasonable + This position is based out of Irving, TX or Peoria, IL + Relocation is available for qualifying U.S. based candidates + The position may travel as needed both domestically and internationally (will vary by project) **Employee benefit details:** Our goal at Caterpillar is for you to have a rewarding career.
