Senior Structure & Steel Bridge Engineer, Pakistan
CDM Smith’s International Development Group is now accepting applications for the position of Senior Structure & Steel Bridge Engineer for a $12M roads-related construction supervision consultancy in Pakistan. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Roads Development Project (KP-RRDP), funded by a loan from the Asian Development Bank, aims to enhance connectivity, economic development, and tourism in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

The project focuses on rehabilitating flood-affected roads, rural access roads, tourism roads, and bridges, with the goal of improving accessibility, connectivity, and socioeconomic development. The project also aims to enhance resilience to natural disasters and leverage the region's tourism potential, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents and unlocking new socio-economic opportunities.

The Senior Structure & Steel Bridge Engineer input is expected to be engaged for 6 person months out of the 48-month total duration of the project. The selected candidate should expect to be based in KPK Province, near to the project office, for their intermittent inputs.

National (Pakistani) Candidates who have international project experience (work outside of Pakistan) are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
The Senior Structure and Steel Bridge Engineer will perform duties under the guidance of the Team Leader. They will assist the team with services and construction supervision of bridges, roads and other infrastructure so that infrastructure is implemented in accordance with the required specifications and approved drawings. They will set up supervision systems and train the staff in their use.

Responsibilities of the Senior Structure and Steel Bridge Engineer will include, but not be not limited to, the following:
- Supervise and monitor the construction of roads, culverts, and bridges, ensuring that work is carried out according to approved designs, specifications, and timelines.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify the quality of materials and workmanship and ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards.
- Implement and oversee quality assurance and control measures to ensure the structural integrity and durability of constructed roads, culverts, and bridges.
- Conduct tests and inspections on construction materials and completed structures and ensure compliance with relevant standards and specifications.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and local authorities, to ensure smooth project implementation.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports, highlighting key issues, risks, and proposed solutions.
- Provide technical support and advice to the project team and contractors on structural engineering matters.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops for engineers and technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge in structural engineering and construction practices.
- Perform any other tasks / assignment that may be assigned by PIU or the ADB.
