Primary Responsibilities:

In the role of Senior Structures Engineer, we'll count on you to:

Supervise or conduct structural analyses, evaluations and designs; develop design options or recommendationsLead, assist with, or provide oversight for preparation of contract documents including drawings, specifications, design documentation and criteriaLead design of various new and/or rehabilitation of hydraulic structures, including dams, spillways, gates, outlet works, diversion structures, retaining walls, cofferdams, floodwalls, water conveyance structures, and foundationsPerform engineering assignments that may require critical thinking and creativity to address unique structural elements that have limited or no specific code-based guidanceCoordinate structural design with multi-disciplinary teamsWork independently as project manager and provide oversight and mentorship of project and junior staff. This role may include leadership and expansion of HDR’s structural engineering services including client and strategic project development with Federal and State government agencies, water agencies and utilities, and power utilitiesReview tasks undertaken by others in the group including checks of design assumptions, calculations, criteria, load cases, code review and compliance with design standardsPosition location is intended for Northern CA (Folsom/Sacramento), however will consider alternate locationsPerform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural EngineeringRequires a minimum of 10 years experience in structural design and analysisDemonstrable experience with leading structural design projects, including analysis, reporting, drawing specification, production, and engineering during construction supportCalifornia PEorSE licensureMicrosoft Office, AutoCAD, Mathcad, SAP2000, or similar analytical softwareMust possess strong interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills and an attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Civil or StructuralEngineering, Structural emphasis preferredField experience related to construction, inspection, or related instrumentationDemonstrated knowledge of structural, seismic, risk assessment, risk informed decision making involved in dam safety design, inspection, remediation, and constructionStrong background in finite element modeling and knowledge of seismic dynamic analysis procedures including response spectrum and time history analyses

The expected compensation range for this position is $114,037 - $185,125 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
