Essential Responsibilities
Oversee staff to ensure the successful delivery of a single complex commercial construction project to completionEnsure that superintendents are equipped with the resources required to efficiently complete projects according to approved plans, specifications and applicable building codes while ensuring that safety regulations are strictly followedActively participates in the pre-bid and preconstruction process regarding site layout, logistics, scheduling, and workforce planningParticipate in the hiring and managing of hourly employees as required, and maintains, approves, and submits hourly timecards with all necessary details for job costing purposesMaintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients/consultants to ensure client needs are met and ensure future business opportunitiesDemonstrate leadership in health, safety and environmental protection on the project. Applies the requirements of the Project Specific Safety Program (PSSP) to promote overall compliance of Ledcor HS&E standards, applicable OH&S acts, regulations and codes with all employees and subcontractors on the projectEnsure project materials are supplied, and work is completed in compliance with the Project Quality ProgramDevelop, maintain and drive the construction schedule in conjunction with project team; ensures project milestones and completion dates are metStrategically plans and implements manpower levels and material quantities; ensures proper equipment and trades are available as requiredAssume a leadership role and provides guidance to project team members in order to contribute to their development and career growthLead project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support the project’s ongoing progressionOversee project reporting that accurately tracks site progress, events, inspections and other relevant informationQualifications
20+ years of construction experience as a Superintendent or similar direct supervisory role on large-scale high-rise residential construction projectsCombination of work experience and/or technical training in an industry-related trade certification/education programExtensive experience working on prefabricated or mass timber projects will be highly regardedExpertise in safety within the organization and knowledge of OH&S and Environmental standards and regulationsSuperior communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to work with senior managementExcellent organizational, planning skills and the ability to juggle multiple prioritiesStrong technical knowledge of modern construction practices, documents, drawings, schedules, technologies, equipment, industry practices and contract negotiationsExpertise in coaching and developing team members through constructive feedback and providing opportunities for developmentAbility to anticipate problems and challenges, while providing leadership in creating innovative solutions to achieve organizational objectivesMust have and maintain a valid drivers licenseWork Conditions
