Senior Supervisor, Cheese

Within our 600-person Roswell manufacturing facility, we are seeking a Senior Supervisor - Cheese  to help us achieve the growth needed to continue moving our organization to even larger levels! The Sr. Supervisor provides guidance and direction to the Cheese Department employees through multiple Supervisors. Make informed decisions pertaining to product quality, department safety, and department efficiency across multiple teams that support one specialty in a product line. Monitor all aspects of the assigned specialty product within the Cheese Department including product testing, equipment operations, and employee actions. Take accurate product inventories and schedule employees to meet production needs. Builds an effective employee team by engaging, mentoring, and developing direct reports. 

 

We Ask Of You To:

Provide leadership, direction, and professional development for up to four production supervisors. Supervise the daily shift operations of the Department to ensure production standards, quality parameters, safety procedures, and department business plan goals are met. Work effectively with the maintenance team to minimize production downtime and ensure preventative maintenance is performed on schedule. Responsible for monitoring the total production process including continual monitoring of the total product flow, equipment, process methodology, mechanical repair work orders, on-the-job training of employees, writing and developing standard operating procedures (SOP), product quality, product yields and safety excellence.  Implements plant safety programs to ensure compliance and a safe working environment.  Ensures work is accomplished in a safe manner and the workplace is free of safety hazards.  Provides employees with the training, equipment, and tools to be able to safely perform their jobs.  Leads and demonstrates safe practices.  Participates in safety investigations and corrective actions Monitors department operations and makes recommendations for labor and manufacturing efficiency, cost savings, and quality improvements. Monitors the specialty product line’s financial performance to assure that a quality product is provided at the least possible cost.   May assist in preparing and monitoring the department budget.

You Have (Minimum Qualifications):

College Degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology or related field, or similar work experience in related industry 6+ years of experience in food manufacturing environment 1+ years of progressive leadership or supervisory experience Proficient computer knowledge, with familiarity or ability to learn SAP or other manufacturing computer systems

Technical knowledge of cheese making process and equipment  Mechanical aptitude  Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices  Effective communication skills  Effective people management skills 

 

Working Relationships:

This position reports to the Cheese Department Manager. The supervisors for the Cheese Department report to this position. All Cheese department production employees will indirectly report to this position This position will regularly interact with other production and support group supervisors. Frequently interacts with other plant management
