Job PurposeTo be responsible for the safety, reliability, security and integrity of the underground electric distribution system through the daily supervision and organization of operations personnel to complete job tasks while complying with Company and regulatory requirements. This role provides emergency response and supervision of personnel engaged in a 24-hour, 7 day per week operation.
Key Accountabilities Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner. Oversee the Underground Electric operational workload of team to ensure allocated resources are fully utilized in order to deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned unit and budget cost. Ensure supervised Underground Electric teams comply with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff. Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-today relationship with them in order to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes. Monitor performance of allocated Underground staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline and poor standards of work in order to ensure that work is performed efficiently. Act as the Underground first point of contact for internal stakeholders and outside agencies to provide support and ensure National Grid deliver against service level agreement. Promote and implement Underground Electric best practices in order to ensure all work tasks achieve high productivity and low costs. Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required Experience of leading a team involved in field operations activities is preferred. Encourages and empowers others by offering help and advice, and building a common understanding of needs and shared goals. Ability to build good working relationships with internal and external customers.Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in a related area or 5 to 7 years’ of related Underground Electrical, Electrical Construction, or Electrical Design experience. Technically proficient within subject matter and experience of leading a team involved in Underground Field operations activities is preferred. Must have the ability to develop a working knowledge of information systems critical to the work management, financial reporting and performance tracking of the Underground Dept. . Salary: $117,000 - $138,000
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
