Job Description
Position Summary: Our standard and custom high-speed automated packaging equipment enables our customers to excel in highly competitive food and pharmaceutical industries. The Senior Project Purchasing Specialist role is an integral role in Syntegon’s success in leading the world’s packaging machinery market.
In this role, the Senior Project Purchasing Specialist will work cross-functionally with engineering, assembly, purchasing, and project management to ensure successful procurement of critical equipment on high-risk projects and to set up supply chains for newly developed products. Success in this role requires a self-motivated leader who is able to take initiative and advocate for continuous improvement of purchasing strategies and for the needs of the site within the global organization.
This position is onsite at the New Richmond, WI facility.
Leadership tasks and responsibilities:
Be a self-driven leader within the site to seek out organizational improvements for strategic and operational purchasing.Lead end-to-end procurement for assigned projects, including supplier selection, contract negotiations, purchase orders and supplier performance management.Work with project and site teams to identify and resolve critical purchasing risks to project deadlines.Coordinate between site and central strategic purchasing teams on technical and strategic topics as well as global product lines.Provide purchasing insight to the engineering team on new designs and development.Responsible for proactively identifying and resolving project and quality issues with key strategic suppliers.Strategic tasks and responsibilities:
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key third-party equipment suppliers including standardized technical specifications and commercial terms.Partner with key suppliers to develop and implement sourcing strategies that support the project objectives, lead times, cost savings initiatives and supplier goals.Negotiate contracts/agreements with suppliers to secure the best possible terms and conditions, while ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.Drive optimization of the supply chain which meets the needs of New Richmond for existing and new products.Drive continuous improvement in supplier quality, lead time, and cost year-over-year.Responsibility to achieve yearly material cost saving targetsDevelop and implement strategic functional group sourcing strategies for high runner product linesTechnical tasks and responsibilities:
Maintain in-depth technical knowledge of all New Richmond product lines.Analyze bill of material structure, engineering designs, and purchasing data to identify improvements needed for supply chain optimization.Develop standard pricing tools for strategic third-party suppliers and provide purchasing input to support accurate product line cost calculations.QualificationsBasic Requirements:
Must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology field. Must have a minimum of 8+ years of professional experience.Must have a minimum of 5+ years of technical purchasing experience.Must be able to travel up to 15%.Must have 5+ years of leading cross-functional teams.5+ years' experience negotiating purchasing contracts.Position located on-site in New Richmond, WIPreferred Qualifications:
Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.Strong, team-oriented organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Proven performance in a similar role with advanced product, process, and fabrication know-how.Ability to lead indirectly across departments in the organization.Self-motivated with personal initiative and drive for growth and continuous improvement. Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of advanced purchasing methods (forward bundling).Basic legal knowledge (purchase contracts).Market know-how (state-of-the-art production processes).Budget planning, purchasing controlling, and project management skills.Advanced knowledge in product cost calculation.Additional Information

The expected compensation range for this position is between $100,000.00 to 140,000.00 based on a full-time schedule.
Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience. At Syntegon compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Total rewards at Syntegon include salary + bonus (if applicable) + benefits.
