Job Summary:
The Senior Supportive Living Counselor (SPLV) is responsible for providing direct counseling services to FLACRA clients, including individual, family, and group therapy. Additionally, this position serves as a clinical backup to the Team Manager, offering support, supervision, and guidance to counseling staff to ensure the delivery of quality care. The Senior SPLV Counselor plays a key role in supporting clients' recovery and reintegration into the community while fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ + Education/Experience:Three years of any combination of education and supervisory experience in health and human services.
+ Licensure/Certifications:Valid NYS Driver’s License required.
+ Skills:Proficiency with electronic records and familiarity with OASAS regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Associates degree in Health or Human Services.
+ Qualified Health Professional (QHP) strongly preferred.
Job Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
Client Services:
+ Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to determine clients' primary and secondary diagnoses and treatment needs.
+ Deliver therapeutic services through individual, conjoint, family, and/or group counseling.
+ Handle intake processes and maintain an independent caseload, using sound judgment and technical expertise in treatment techniques.
+ Participate in developing and implementing effective treatment plans tailored to client needs.
Staff Supervision & Training:
+ Provide direct supervision and training to Addiction Counselors/Evaluators, support staff, and students, ensuring alignment with best practices and agency standards.
+ Offer guidance and clinical backup to counseling staff in the absence of the Team Manager.
+ Conduct training sessions for staff and peers on topics such as TIER, group facilitation skills, and other relevant areas.
Community Engagement & Collaboration:
+ Represent FLACRA in community presentations and training programs, fostering positive relationships with referral sources and community groups.
+ Maintain knowledge of local behavioral health systems and work cooperatively with culturally diverse clients, staff, and community service providers.
Administrative Duties:
+ Attend and actively participate in general, staff, in-service, and supervisory meetings.
+ Ensure compliance with OASAS regulations and FLACRA policies through accurate documentation and reporting.
+ Provide input and support for program development and strategic initiatives as directed by leadership.
Crisis Management:
+ Respond effectively to emergencies and clinic issues, remaining calm under pressure to ensure client and staff safety.
+ Provide backup support for clinical and operational challenges, demonstrating strong diagnostic abilities.
Other Skills/Knowledge and Experience:
+ Strong supervisory and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively guide and support counseling staff.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to multitask, solve problems, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
+ Proficiency in electronic record systems and familiarity with regulatory compliance standards.
+ Knowledge of local behavioral health resources and systems.
