Responsibilities
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior System Administrator to manage and maintain all corporate IT assets, including on-premises infrastructure, virtualized environments, cloud services, networking systems, and production environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in virtualization (VMware, Nutanix), cloud environment (Azure), networking equipment (firewalls, routers, and switches), web application troubleshooting, and production system support. Exceptional organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to ensure the security, performance, and scalability of IT systems are critical for success in this role. Please note that after-hours support may occasionally be required for production systems to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
IT Asset Management:Maintain an accurate inventory of all corporate IT assets, including hardware, software, licenses, and networking equipmentImplement and manage systems for asset tracking, auditing, and lifecycle managementVirtualization Administration:Configure, manage, and maintain virtualized environments, particularly VMware and Hyper-VEnsure high availability, performance, and security of virtual servers and applicationsTroubleshoot and resolve issues within virtualization infrastructureConduct capacity planning and performance tuningCloud Administration:Design, implement, and manage cloud environments, with a primary focus on Microsoft AzureAdminister Azure services, including Virtual Machines, Azure AD, Networking, and Storage solutionsOptimize cloud resource utilization for cost efficiency and scalabilityEnsure cloud environments meet corporate security and compliance standardsNetworking Administration:Configure, monitor, and maintain networking equipment, including firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), routers, and switchesDesign and manage secure network architectures, including VPNs and VLANsTroubleshoot and resolve network performance and connectivity issuesImplement and monitor network security protocols and toolsWeb Application Troubleshooting:Diagnose and resolve issues related to web applications hosted on cloud or on-premises infrastructureWork with development teams to identify and address server and application performance bottlenecksConfigure and manage web servers (e.g., IIS, Apache, Nginx) and load balancersEnsure web applications are secure, scalable, and meet uptime requirementsSystem Administration:Administer IT systems, including file servers, email systems, storage, and backup solutionsImplement access controls, system hardening, and monitoring toolsConduct regular system updates, patch management, and performance checksProduction Support:Monitor and support production systems to ensure high availability and minimal downtimeTroubleshoot and resolve critical issues in production environmentsProvide after-hours support when required for urgent production system needsSecurity & Compliance:Implement and maintain security policies for systems, virtualization, cloud environments, and networkingPerform regular audits and risk assessments of IT infrastructureManage firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools to safeguard corporate assetsCollaboration & Support:Work with cross-functional teams to address IT infrastructure needsProvide advanced technical support for escalated IT and web application issuesDocument procedures and mentor junior IT staff
Requirements
Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a System AdministratorExtensive experience with VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualization platformsProficiency with Microsoft Azure, including Virtual Machines, Azure AD, and cloud networkingHands-on experience managing networking equipment, including firewalls, routers, and switchesStrong experience troubleshooting and optimizing web applications and related servicesKnowledge of web server administration (e.g., IIS, Apache, Nginx)Familiarity with IT asset management tools and best practicesExperience supporting production environments with minimal downtimeStrong understanding of system security, patch management, and backup/recovery strategiesExperience with scripting and automation toolsHighly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to multitaskExcellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skillsStrong communication and collaboration skillsProactive and able to work independently while contributing to team goalsWillingness to provide after-hours support for production environments when neededEducation/Certification Requirements
