The Senior System Engineer specializing in database administration is responsible for supporting and maintaining SAP databases and systems in our SAP landscape, ensuring its availability, performance, and security. You will work closely with the senior members of the team to troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, and contribute to the overall success of our SAP environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Install and maintain the performance of database servers.
• Develop processes for optimizing database security.
• Set and maintain database standards.
• Manage database access.
• Performance tuning of database systems.
• Install, upgrade, and manage database applications.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
• Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.
• Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
• Create automation for repeating database tasks.
• Develop, implement, and manage system backup and recovery strategies.
• Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance with company standards.
• Stay up to date with the latest SAP technologies and trends and make recommendations for system improvements and optimizations.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering or related field or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5+ years of experience in database administration.
• Proficiency in all aspects of database administration and good understanding of SAP applications, operating systems, hardware, integration, and networking in various SAP technologies and cloud platforms.
• Strong proficiency in SAP HANA administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience in SAP ASE, PostgreSQL, MaxDB and Oracle database administration.
• Experience in database backup, restore, and recovery.
• Experience in operating systems, such as Linux and Windows server.
• Experience in full life cycle implementation of multiple database installations, upgrades, and patches.
• Experience in database monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good documentation skills and practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a global team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the organization, build strong partnerships to meet shared objectives.
• Self-accountable and able to manage own time to meet deadlines.
• Action Oriented. Takes on new opportunities with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm.
• Intellectually curious and willing to evaluate and quickly learn new technologies.
• High level of energy and enthusiasm with the ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
• Experience implementing SAP solutions for pharmaceutical industry, in FDA and GxP regulated environment is a plus.
• Experience managing projects or components of large projects.
• Able to deal with ambiguity in problem definition and organizational relationships. Experience working in a matrix organization.
• Able to manage work across virtual teams.
• Strong oral and written presentation skills.
• Demonstrates openness to learning new skills and helping others to raise their technology quotient.
• Demonstrates a focus on improving processes, structures, and knowledge within the team. Leads in analyzing current states, delivering strong recommendations that are actionable.
