Senior Systems Administrator

Job Description:

GDIT has an immediate opening for a Senior Systems Administrator supporting the CITS contract for USCENTCOM. The position is based in Tampa, Florida.

The Senior Server Administrator will be expected to perform regular maintenance of Windows servers while providing Tier 3 support for the enterprise which consisting of more than 5,000 users, 1,000 servers, and 10,000 endpoints.  The Senior Server Administrator will be responsible for the automation of basic system administrator tasks using PowerShell, scheduled tasks, or other technologies.


Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems administrator with strong PowerShell scripting experience to join our team.  The Senior Server Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining our organization's systems infrastructure, through PowerShell automation where possible. Key responsibilities include overseeing the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of servers, virtual machines, and networking devices. Additionally, the candidate will play a crucial role in the certificate lifecycle management processes for web servers and secure communication channels. The successful candidate will have a strong background in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to server performance, security, and availability. Compliance with all applicable security policies, regulations, and best practices is paramount. Collaboration with other IT teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions that align with command requirements is both expected and required. This role also involves providing mentorship and guidance to junior administrators and team members to facilitate a stronger foundational understanding of the systems which enable our operations.

Additional Responsibilities:

- Building, deploying, and maintaining a Windows Server domain to include, but not limited to, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Group Policy, Sites and Services, Domain and Trusts, and Certificate Lifecycle Management.

- Creating Administrator and Managed Service Accounts.

- Tuning system performance and maintaining system documentation.

- Installing domain-wide software / implementing critical system patches.

- Interacting with end-users and evaluating vendor products to develop functional requirements for enhancements and changes.

- Interfacing with third-party vendors for troubleshooting calls.

- Scheduling, planning, and overseeing system upgrades.

- Writing and implementing group policies with proper scoping and documentation.

- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and remediating a variety of systems issues which may not have previously documented solutions.

- Reviewing and preparing documentation for systems, tests, and process guides.

- Supporting projects for a variety of initiatives to enhance the efficiency, capability, or security of the environment.

- Collaborating with other enterprise IT teams to address operational requirements.

- Providing technical guidance and support to junior administrators and team members.

- Ensuring problems are tracked and escalated at the proper priority level.

- Producing various data sets and informational packets to management to support ongoing efforts for process improvements.

Education and/or Certifications:
Required:

- Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification

Desired:

- Microsoft Windows Hybrid Administrator

- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or higher

- ITIL 4 Foundation Certification

Required Skills:

- Demonstrated proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation of repetitive system administration tasks.

- Proven experience in systems administration and infrastructure management.

- Strong understanding of Certificate Lifecycle Management

- Prior experience in the writing and implementation of Group Policies related to the use of computing resources and to address security vulnerabilities as they are discovered.

- Ability to review, modify, and prepare comprehensive documentation for systems administration tasks such as system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.

Desired Skills:

- Experience with USCENTCOM and familiarity with its mission

- Knowledge and familiarity with USCENTCOM’s IT environment

- Experience working in cross functional IT teams and projects.

- Experience working with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) administration.

Clearance Requirement:
- Active TS/SCI

Travel Requirements:

- Required USCENTCOM Exercise support of up to 10% Travel during the Year to OCONUS Locations
