Senior Systems Administrator
**GENERAL DESCRIPTION** Chemtreat is looking for the right individual to step into our fast-paced, challenging environment as our Sr. Systems Administrator. You’ll be working to maintain the stability of the environment while also moving the company forward through innovation and technology. If you are smart, motivated, customer centric, excited about new challenges and eager to learn we can’t wait to hear from you. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES** + Systems Maintenance: Ensure the smooth operation of all servers, networks, and related infrastructure. + Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance tasks such as software updates and hardware upgrades. + Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organization's systems and data from cyber threats (e.g., managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, and conducting regular security audits). + User Support: Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshooting issues with hardware, software, and network connectivity inclusive of responding to help desk tickets, providing guidance on best practices, and training users on new technologies. + Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure the integrity and availability of critical data in the event of system failures or data breaches. + Regularly test backup systems to verify their effectiveness. + Capacity Planning: Monitor system usage trends and forecast future resource requirements to ensure that the organization's IT infrastructure can support current and future needs. + Perform hardware grades, software configurations optimization, and scaling resources as necessary. + Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, network layouts, and troubleshooting procedures to streamline operations, facilitate knowledge transfer, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. + Vendor Management: Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to procure hardware, software, and support services as needed. + Negotiate vendor contracts, evaluate vendor proposals, and manage vendor relationships. + Policy Development: Develop and enforce IT policies (e.g., data security, acceptable use of technology, system access controls) and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational objectives. + Training and Mentorship: Provide training, guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff, helping them develop their skills and knowledge in system administration best practices. + Emergency Response: Provide on call support and resolve critical system outages or security incidents outside of regular business hours. + Coordinate with other IT staff, communicating with stakeholders, and implement emergency response protocols to minimize downtime and mitigate risks. + Printer Management: Manage the organization's printer infrastructure, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of printers and print servers. + Group Policy Object (GPO) Management: Develop, implement, and maintain Group Policy Objects to enforce security settings, manage user configurations, and automate administrative tasks across the organization's network. This includes creating GPOs, applying them to Active Directory objects, and troubleshooting GPO-related issues. + Solution Development: Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and enhance the organization's IT infrastructure through the development and implementation of custom solutions. This may involve scripting, coding , or integrating third-party software to address specific business needs or challenges. + Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate existing IT processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement. + Resolve inefficiencies, implement best practices, and leverage technology to automate repetitive tasks and streamline operations. + Provide Onsite Presence: Provide on-site support to address immediate technical issues, collaborate with other departments, and provide hands-on troubleshooting when necessary. **SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES** + Help plan, coordinate, and execute large meeting events “Company All Hands” + Support conference room audio and video systems **DESIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS** + **Various Operating System Proficiency** : A deep understanding of various operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux/Unix), virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), networking protocols, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure). Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python is also valuable for automation and scripting tasks. + **Active Directory Management** : A strong understanding of the installation process and management for Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) and related components, such as DNS and DHCP. This includes configuring domain controllers, forests, and domains, as well as setting up trusts between domains and forests. + **Routing and Switching** : In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and switching technologies (e.g., VLANs, STP, EtherChannel). Senior network administrators should be able to design and configure routing and switching infrastructures to efficiently route traffic between network segments and ensure high availability. + **Wireless Networking** : Knowledge of wireless networking standards (e.g., 802.11ac, Wi-Fi 6) and technologies, including access point deployment, RF optimization, and wireless security best practices. Senior network administrators should be able to design, deploy, and manage wireless networks that provide reliable connectivity and meet performance requirements **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE** + Bachelor degree in information systems or related field or an IT Infrastructure Certification + 10 years’ experience supporting, installing, and designing large Active Directory environments + 8+ years’ experience in server systems support in MS Windows enterprise environment + 5+ years’ experience in desktop support in MS Windows enterprise environment + Expert understanding of TCP/IP protocols and basic networking + 5+ years’ knowledge of Virtualization technologies + 5+ years’ knowledge of current SAN/NAS technologies + 5+ years’ working in a large SharePoint environment + 5+ years’ working with Server Blade technologies + 5+ years’ managing datacenter operations + 5+ years’ experience using Windows Scripting and PowerShell + 3+ years’ knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure) + Ability to apply troubleshooting techniques to quickly resolve server hardware and software issues + Cisco networking knowledge a plus + Ability to communicate both written and verbally in English and Spanish, preferred **PHYSICAL DEMANDS** + Lifting and Moving Equipment: The ability to lift and move computer equipment up to 50lbs such as servers, switches, and other hardware components. This could involve transporting equipment within a data center, server room, or office environment. + Cabling and Wiring: Installing, managing, or troubleshooting network cables and wiring infrastructure may require bending, kneeling, or reaching in tight spaces such as under desks or within server racks. + Rack Mounting and Hardware Installation: Installing or replacing server hardware, switches, and other equipment often involves working at heights within server racks or network cabinets. This may require the use of ladders or step stools and adherence to safety protocols. + Extended Hours and On-Call: System administrators may be required to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during system upgrades, maintenance windows, or in response to critical incidents. Being on-call may also involve responding to emergencies outside of regular business hours. + Ergonomic Considerations: Spending long hours working at a computer workstation can lead to ergonomic issues such as eye strain, repetitive strain injuries, or musculoskeletal discomfort. System administrators should be mindful of ergonomic best practices and take regular breaks to prevent fatigue and maintain their physical well-being. + Travel: The ability to travel is required up to one time per quarter to include out of the country. **WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT** + Environmental Hazards: Working with electrical equipment and networking infrastructure carries inherent risks, including electric shock, tripping hazards, or exposure to hazardous materials. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The compensation range for this role is $115,000 - $120,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
