AltairStrickland is looking for a full-time **Sr. Systems Administrator** , at our Corporate Office in La Porte Texas. This position will report directly to the Director of IT for EMCOR Industrial Services and will be eligible to participate in the Company’s sponsored health insurance plans (medical, dental, vision) life insurance, 401 (k), and disability plans effective the first day of the month following the date of employment.
Additionally, the successful candidate receives **Paid Time Off (PTO)** at time of hire, as approved for utilization by their respective manager, without having to accrue time to obtain the PTO benefit. **SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS**
The Sr. Systems Administrator’s position is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and securing the Informational Technology (IT) infrastructure for AltairStrickland, LLC (AS) and its subsidiary, Diamond Refractory Services, LLC (DIA). The position will ensure the efficient operation of the organization’s technology infrastructure in accordance with EMCOR’s IT Department directives as well as within the governance of its Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The role will oversee day-to-day IT operations, IT security and compliance, as well as be responsible for providing technical support to end-users of the Company.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Implement and manage network security, access, and authorization to protect the organization’s data and systems from unauthorized access.
+ Provide oversight to organizations network, servers, operating systems, and applications, ensuring that all systems are effective, up-to-date, secure, and in compliance with SOP’s.
+ Install, support, and maintain computer desktops, laptops, phones, tablets, printers and/or related hardware and software, including imaging/deploying computers and peripherals.
+ Monitor system performance, identify and debug issues; implement solutions to ensure optimal performance.
+ Provide technical support for users to resolve hardware and or software issues; as well communicate/provide user education regarding IT best practices, policies, and or procedures.
+ Oversee and manage IT system troubleshooting, backups, archiving and disaster recovery efforts; as well as ensure compliance with Company record retention policies.
+ Maintain and test Business Continuity Plan in accordance with Corporate IT Policies and implement necessary changes as identified.
+ Develops and maintains relationships with internal IT professionals, as well as cultivate relationships and coordinate with IT vendors and service providers.
+ Acts as a resource to champion information technology within the Company and acts as a direct liaison with the Executive Team to effectively communicate relevant IT information in a timely fashion.
+ Regularly participate in business meetings/conferences, as well as training opportunities to remain current on advances in technology applications as well as knowledgeable of regulatory and/or Company policy and procedures.
+ Implements and oversees operational budget and expenditures in conjunction with the Executive Team goals and expectations; and scheduled IT projects throughout the year.
+ IT supports multiple offices and remote jobsites, with varying degrees of connectivity and complexity.
+ Manage IT assets, keep asset management inventory systems up-to-date, and in compliance.
+ Oversee and maintain optimal function of the organization’s internal information services systems, which may include database management, network support, installation, customization, development, maintenance, and upgrades to applications and systems.
+ Manage/maintains internal database files, tables, codes, backup files, integrity, and security.
+ Installs, implements, modifies, and upgrades software and applications to meet changing business and technology.
+ Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to Company employees.
+ Serves as lead representative and liaison between the EMCOR IT Department, external vendors, and other stakeholders for information technology implementation projects.
+ Prepares training materials, guides, and documentation, as well as provides user training and hands-on support.
+ Identify process improvements throughout all areas of responsibility.
+ Performs other duties and functions as required and or directed.
**ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS**
This position will report directly to the Director of IT and has reporting responsibilities to other Executives of the Company, as necessary.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, telecommunications, information technology or a related field is desired and or a degree with equivalent experience and training. A minimum of five (5) years of information technology oversight experience is necessary and ten (10) years plus of progressive IT hands-on experience is preferred. An individual with a CompTIA Certificate, Microsoft Certifications, or similar certification(s), is beneficial to ensure the individual has familiarity with various IT processes along with knowledge of regulatory compliance issues.
Must have strong process, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to research and analyze data to diagnose and resolve system issues. Must understand and have knowledge of various information technology software platforms and administration practices/procedures associated with data integrity and functionality. Requires excellent interpersonal and technical support skills along with good communication skills, both orally and in writing, to work with executives, co-workers and subordinates in resolving and / or transferring knowledge of IT functions and/or processes. Good leadership skills and proactive decision making and problem solving are necessary. Effective planning, priority setting, and the ability to oversee multiple tasks, along with attention to details are critical to the position’s success.
Utilization of computer skills to navigate operating systems such as Windows as well as other business software applications including Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365, Power BI, Forms, etc. Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V. Strong understanding of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and VPN, and security tools such as EDR, SEIM, NAC, NDR, etc. Knowledge of Endpoint configuration and vulnerability management tools such as Intune, SCCM, Autopilot, Tanium, etc.
Working knowledge of large desktop/laptop deployments including design, engineering, and support of the desktop, desktop applications, desktop images, encryption, endpoint security and the associated systems of application delivery and group policies are required. Experience with design, implementation, and maintenance of server environments, including computers and storage is necessary. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (EPR) implementation and support is beneficial.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
Although many activities will be performed at the home office, some travel by airplane and automobile in conducting business may be necessary. The ability to communicate orally with customers, management and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.
Activities include but are not limited to extended periods of sitting, extensive work at a computer workstation, and some extended workdays greater than standard business hours may be required. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
No manual heavy lifting is expected, without utilization of appropriate equipment. Exertion of up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines. Also included is the ability to open and close common business filing cabinets.
Good reasoning ability is required to solve a wide range of business problems. Able to apply statistical calculations, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory as well as algebra, linear equations, and other analytics as required. Able to understand and utilize financial reports and legal documents to conduct business.
**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting and is typically performed between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM during a standard business workday, or similar flex hours, with break times and meal opportunities provided. These hours may vary based on workflow and project necessities on any given week, based on activities of your respective job scope. Occasionally it may be necessary to complete critical path activities or time sensitive documents during nonstandard business hours. It is possible that the Company may request you to travel if business needs to warrant the request in which all travel and/or out-of-town expenses will be provided or covered by the Company.
