Senior Systems Engineer Job Category: Engineering Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: TS/SCI with Polygraph Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 25% Type of Travel: Continental US * * * **The Opportunity:** CACI is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer/Space Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our Annapolis Junction, MD location. In this position, the individual will work under general direction and advise on strategic and operational planning of customer requirements and operations team activities to satisfy customer expectations. Additionally, the individual will contribute to the program by assisting the development and implementation of strategic plans, system designs and functional components into operations. You will also evaluate new system design alternatives that consider life cycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk and, expansion capability in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You will be accountable for the strategic technical integrity of work performed and the deliverables associated with your assigned responsibilities. Additionally, you will identify and communicate risks to cost and schedule and determine alternate courses of action, workarounds, and fallback positions at appropriate milestones using prior experience and available data. Finally, you will help to improve standard integration strategies and best-practice knowledge based upon rationale that resulted in improved integration performance. Some Continental US and International travel may be required up to 20% as well as surge support. **Responsibilities:** + Advise program leadership and government customers on strategic and operational planning of requirements and operations activities to satisfy customers’ expectations. + Participate in generating alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions. + Derive from system requirements an understanding of stakeholder needs, functions that may be logically inferred and implied as essential to system effectiveness. + Participate in system design, integration, documentation, testing and delivery that meet the functional requirements of the system. + Perform fault-isolation of ground-based satellite system hardware and software working with various stakeholders. + Define the strategic methods, processes, and evaluation criteria by which the systems, subsystems and work products are verified against their requirements in a written plan. + Advise and participate in peer-review of system designs to ensure the system meets the technical requirements and conforms with established technical standards. + Requires an ability to effectively communicate with multiple stakeholders and Government representatives at various levels of the company and work collaboratively with others in a team environment. + Regularly works to achieve operational objectives within the job area with direct impact on department results. **Qualifications:** + A TS/SCI with a Poly is required. + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university and 20+ years of related work. + Knowledge and understanding of system engineering, documentation, hardware and software integration, fault-isolation techniques, and system testing. + Functional experience hosting applications in Linux + CompTia Security+ or equivalent + Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. + Competence in MS Office tools including willingness to learn Visio + Experience with spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multi-meters + Must be willing to meet all requirements to facilitate a system installation at DoD facility. **_Desired:_** + Experience with installing and configuring network monitoring tools + Experience with security best practices such as hardening systems + Excellent communication skills in technical, business, and client interactions + Experience working in a dynamic and collaborative environment + Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence + Full Scope poly + Previous experience with fiber-optics + Previous experience with installing and fault-isolation of SATCOM receive-only antennas - **________________________________________________________________________________________** **What You Can Expect:** **A culture of integrity.** At CACI, we place character and innovation at the center of everything we do.
